That’s why I prefer Dropbox to iCloud.
iCloud might be better integrated and transparent, but the lack of controls worries me

Have you tried callling Apple support? They’ve been really good when I’ve needed them for stuff

Can you back up your iCloud data? Before you go any further with troubleshooting it would be really helpful to know you have a fallback solution in case something you try syncs the wrong way and deletes all the data in the cloud.

I would however I don’t have a computer with a big enough drive to download it all on to. I’ve copied a few important folders over to Dropbox but if I want everything then i’d Have to manual download and move them myself.

Might have to try this

Hrmmm, I've had some 'since-installing-High-Sierra' rubbish with getting various iCloud services to 'see' that I am logged-in on a home Mac. MBA, iPhone, iPad all fine. Maybe it's one of those Apple 'hobbies/work in progress' that we have to eat shit on for a bit /s

They were pretty good. I had a very random issue where system preferences would freeze up and I couldn’t change any settings. No interneting worked to get a solution, but the guy quickly figured out a bunch of plist files to delete which sorted it out.

So macOS Mojave only supports MBPs from 2012 onwards.
Apparently my 2011 quad i7 16GB ram is too old now...

Time for a new one then! Wait for the refresh this year then grab the base 13 and an eGPU.

Is Mojave just cosmetic? I mean who actually uses the app store? Stacked icons is nice I guess but
¯_(ツ)_/¯

Apart from all the software stuff, no major updates? Or did I miss something?
-
• #12889
Have only had a chance to see one article at the mo and it basically said nothing apart from an app store update and a dark mode. Headline was "everything you need to know blah blah". Presumably any valuable updates I don't need to know.

Oh and their continued 'glibness'

Pretty much it. Although they are also laying the foundation for iOS apps to run on macOS. And AR advances, if that is of interest.

The finder updates are nice.
The screenshot updates are very nice.
HomeKit on Mac OS is scary for every hardware manufacturer who wasted their money developing an app.
On iOS, Siri automation might've just killed IFTTT.
AR kit advancements are good but its still a bit '3D tv/Blu-ray' to gamble on. Might sell an app idea to a client tho.
MeMoji can fuck off. Very Sims 2.
The notification stacking and usage data features are just Android rip off.The most radical thing yesterday was the fact that Apple said the latest iOS will make older devices faster. This is very un-Apple albeit due to the PR disaster.

Wonder if the move to allow iOS apps to run on macOS is a move to help productivity apps to make money on the iOS platform? I've read several articles about seemingly good and useful apps tank on iOS but thrive on macOS. Might have more to do with the form factor of the device rather than the market as such, but still an interesting question

Speaking of productivity on iOS, Adobe Lightroom is awesome on an iPad, I haven't edited a single photo on my mac since I got a new ipad. Makes me want an iPad pro though...

Both mine are fine...
Managed to fuck up iCloud Drive on my MacBook. In an attempt to sort out something unrelated, I turned iCloud Drive off then back on. It took everything off the desktop and documents as expected, however when I turned it back on, it's not putting all the shit back on. So I'm stuck with an empty iCloud Drive... Everything is still their on iCloud just it isn't coming up on this computer.
I've spent the day turning it on and off and signing out and in and restarting. I even did a full clean install and I still can't get anything to sync... It's running High Sierra.
Anyone experienced a similar thing? I may be switching to dropbox sooner then planned..
