I've just discovered Trello and it seems fucking great. But I hate browser based apps. Is there a way to make a passable desktop version. I've seen 'Fluid' but don't love it. Bonus points if there's a way to make it actually tangibly part of the desktop. I.E. Instead of stars/mountains/bollocks have an interactive desktop. Appreciate that last one is a bit out there though I have seen mods for Windows and Linux that offer similar functionality (albeit with a LOT of faffing).

Ooh, nicely done. That looks like it could be a winner. Thank you.

Followup on Paws. Good and does what you expect. Only gripe - the icon of two paws. Looks really out of place so will try and change it in time but for now thanks @Mr_Sworld

I have a MBP with Thunderbolt & HDMI, I want to buy a couple of monitors for working from home use (currently use a TV via HDMI). Whats the best way of connecting, both Thunderbolts (not sure if Thunderbolt 1 or 2) or HDMI / Splitter ? I want to be able to replicate my workstation (2 x 29" NEC Monitors)

Dude, how have you only just heard about Trello?!
Was actually bought by Atlassian yesterday - I hope it doesn't change.

Started using the macbook yesterday - seems to handle everything just fine.
It's the m7 version with 512gb flash

Oh man. I just started transferring my applications from the old iMac to the new MBP via wifi.
I'm going to be here all day aren't I?

Ethernet bro.

More like Internet, just redownload them.

Had heard about it before but been using Whiteboard.io (nice but not nearly as functional as Trello) and didn't want to keep subscribing to these things so never really investigated.
I keep saying right, "this time, no more". Trello could be it. Though I wish it had a way to automate importing from other sites - been manually building cards and checklists (including probably foolishly past tasks) since yesterday afternoon. I want to get it populated before I roll it out to colleagues.

Trello is the only pinned tab I have in Safari. Setting up a 'Getting things done' board with four columns - Today, This Week, Soon and Blocked - containing everything i need to do totally changed how organised I am (albeit from awful to mediocre).

Yeah I was going to especially as i'll be upgrading a couple of anyway... but I have a load of audio plugins which require some weird shell software key thing thing to install, it was s such a ballache last time I had hoped that transferring them across would avoid that pain.
Oh and (please forgive my ignorance as i'm new to Macs newer than 2009) but I could connect the old iMac direct to the router by ethernet but have no way of connecting the new MBP. Will that help speed things up at all? It's telling me 2 hours now.

Never mind. I'ts sped up load now.
I may have moar Mac dunce questions over the next few days/years

If it's peer to peer over your home network then connecting to an ethernet hub will speed things up - assuming your router has a decent throughput speed. If that's too much hassle, you might be better off moving stuff to a Firewire or USB disk (given you do audio you might have some of that kit kicking about). I take it most of these apps are just stored in a folder that you can just moved across, i.e. they are pre-compiled binaries that you can run on any version of Mac OS X. When I hear pre-2009, I just get a bit nervous perhaps that you have stuff that might require some re-compiling or some additional things like X-Libraries installed in order to actually work properly. I am sure you'll have more questions after reading all of my ranting ;-).

Thanks man. It's all across now. The plugins are of a much more recent vintage than the ancient mac... they worked fine on Sierra and Logic 9 on the Imac so i'm hoping we'll be fine...

• #10645
that should be good then! ENJOY!

Scanning 430 audio units now. Couple of fails so far. Nothing crucial.
Going to get Logic up and running then upgrade to X.
*holds breath

You'll need 64 bit plugins for X. It's well worth the upgrade but the bridge fudges for 32 plugins don't really work so 64 bit only.

The Design Director who lead the Mac Pro and Touchbar MBP teams has moved to Tesla.
Also, Chris Lattner, who's responsible for llvm/clang and Swift has moved to Tesla.

Bet there's more interesting work to be done at Tesla. Those two have taken Apple from the brink of collapse to what it is today and I can see why the prospect of doing a similar journey again at Tesla is tempting. Still sucks for Apple.

Hey I'm having some issues with my Mac Pro, keenel_task is taking up 2.4gb of memory and the machine has been stalling when opening programs, watching TVs and films and basically making it frustrating to do anything. Anyone have any knowledge of this?
Done a bit of google searching and a solution is to rewrite a bit of code in terminal, but I'm hoping there is an easier solution..
Nice. Very tempting...
