  • Apple Music - can you stream specific albums on the desktop? If so, how?

  • "Apple Music - the long-awaited music app which neatly integrates new-world subscription-based streaming with the old world playback of your existing Tunes library.

Simply pay Apple $9.99/£9.99 per month and in return you can stream as much music as you like, as many times as you like, on as many devices as you like.

You can do this from inside the stock Music app on your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, or with iTunes on your PC or Mac. "

It's a music streaming service offered by Apple, a competitor for Spotify, and apparently I should be able to use it on the desktop via iTunes, but I can't for the life of me work out how.

  • Open iTunes...

At the top of the bit with all your library there are a few tabs (right in the middle, under the window with playing now info). Click the 'browse' section. That's apple music. Or just use the search bar and search for what you want to listen to that isn't already in your library...

    Sorted.

  • Yeah, you download Itunes, buy a subscription, listen to music.

  • @Soul I did that, it went to the track I wanted, it'll play the first 30 seconds of it then stop, and would appear to want me to purchase said track to listen to all of it.

  • Are you signed in to iTunes? .... under the Account preference menu?
Is it the right account that is associated with your subscription to Apple Music?

  • Yes to all three.

  • Be in Browse, not Store

  • Yeah, doing that also. The secret seems to be to ignore the top results that the search brings back as they won't (can't?) work, and choose something from below that has a plus sign next to it.

Why, I have no fucking idea.

  • iTunes is a fucking mess... I was trying to play a compilation LP the other day, I couldn't... iTunes will let me see the individual tracks, they all have the same LP name and artwork but can I play the tracks in the order they're supposed to be played in? Can I fuck... Useless...

  • you used to have to select the tracks, edit their metadata and tick the compilation checkbox for that to work.

edit: you may also need to go through and add track numbers to each track as well

  • Just to show what I'm talking about - there's no way that I can discover to make this album play:

  • The row across the top do nothing, insofar as I can tell.

  • *Trumpism

  • Why have you edited out what you were searching for?

  • Miley Cyrus? S Club 7? Babymetal?

  • The fact the album covers haven't loaded might indicate your internet connection is too rubbish to stream music. Are you on dial up?

  • Why have you edited out what you were searching for?

I haven't, that's exactly as iTunes is presenting itself to me - daft white box included.

100 Mbps fibre. It's not the line.

  • Alt + f4 and reopen it

  • nice

    (cmd+q)

  • He's using windblows, check the top right of the box.

  • iTunes is a fucking mess

+1000. In the last few versions try and find internet radio. Trying to find Radio 4 is like playing the Crystal Maze.

Why don't you want to use Spotify Dammit?
