  • Lets see for how long the circus is gonna carry on.

  • So who is the next that has something to say or ask about it?

  • oh my! how long will this travesty carry on for?

  • I think you confusing me with someone else, i don't have any rep from you.

OK, didn't bother to check but I remember you have posted some great pictures.

I post a bit of everything, including cliched art photography. Have a comment to the others posters about that as well, if you can.

Like I said, it doesn't float my boat but I don't mind. I was just being a sarky cunt because I was a little bit annoyed.

I never thought anyone was saying that i'm a bad person.

    But your actions implied it.

Yes, censorship has taken place, see Velocio comment.

I would not have been removed if you had linked to it with some indication of the content.

    Whose alias are you?

No-one's, this my name. Look at my cp.

  • anyway :)

  • even imageshack agrees its nsfw

Oh, those liberal American corporations. If they think it's NSFW, it must have been truly appalling.

I would not have been removed if you had linked to it with some indication of the content

So, it was censored, with an admonition to exercise self-censorship in future.

  • By posting on the forum, you implicitly agree to follow the rules clearly laid out, and therefore moderation to ensure these are followed is not censorship.

  • moderation...is not censorship.

It is. To think otherwise is to fall into the trap deliberately set by the doublespeak spouting politicians who renamed the BBFC from British Board of Film Censors to British Board of Film Classification.

It doesn't matter that this forum is censored, but it does matter that people try to disguise this fact by resort to euphemism.

  • No, the photo can still be widely displayed openly elsewhere. The BBFC effectively control[ed] what film makers could economically make, and therefore controlled the industry. Moderation in this context is not censorship, as (aside from the fact the photo could have been posted with warning), this forum is a community, with rules communally agreed, that has no bearing on the producers of the photos exhibited.
I suppose this is just a discussion on the nature of censorship though, which is interesting but not relevant to the earlier discussion. I'm enjoying the derail all the same.

  • The BBFC effectively control[ed] what film makers could economically make

No, they control what film makers can legally exhibit. With very few exceptions, it is not lawful in the UK to exhibit in a public cinema (or publish on video tape or disc) any moving picture work which has not been passed by the BBFC. The economic impact of the BBFC is not primarily from its role as a censor, but from its role as the de jure monopoly provider of classification ratings, which allows it to charge extortionate fees for its service.

The fact that something can be published elsewhere does not have any bearing on whether censorship has happened. Your suggestion that it is otherwise would lead to the conclusion that there is no censorship in China, because everything proscribed by the CPC is freely available somewhere outside China.

  • The material censored by the Communist Party of China might be available to people outside of china, but it is not available to the chinese people. It would qualify as censorship if lfgss was the sole means by which these images can be viewed by the intended audience. Fundamentally, Velocio is not stopping people from viewing these images, only preventing them from being directly displayed here.

  • What was this picture that marcom getting his knickers in a twist about?

  • It was the lack of knickers ed.

  • Ok, thread back on track.

    Nudity in photography and art

I'm gonna start with Spencer Tunick, later we will explore the theme from different views. Please fell free to contribute.
