they're building them already...
-
• #9678
so the reason the tories failed to build any houses was because people weren't allowed to build houses on top of the houses that already exist?

@ChainBreaker Same property?
-
• #9683
Yup, freehold managers. Pulling a fast one.
-
• #9684
same property what?
No.
-
• #9685
@ChainBreaker Mate, this is all a bit crap. Hope you manage to jump through enough hoops soon. The whole process seems to have got MUCH harder since October 2013 when I had to go through it. Chin up.

Be wary if a solicitor needs to hold any money of yours for any length of time but says not to worry as interest earned will come back to you.
Mine has had £13,648 of mine since October. Who would like to guess how much interest that has accrued?
-
• #9687
Probably about 2% interest? 8 months at 2% would be, er, about £200?
-
• #9688
£4.52

It's nice being single and it's nice to be able to buy a property with my own money. I can do what I want.
One of those things is to tell you to get off the feminist high horse.
There I've said it. Boo ya to you!

On a slight downer, my landlord, now ex, still hasn't registered with DPS. This is despite reassurances and a ID number.
Also he didn't tell me he'd sold the property until two days before my rent check was due. Luckily I managed to cancel the standing order in time. Twat.
On the plus side I can now take him to court and claim up to three times the deposit amount. That should be good to put towards the bathroom project.

hypothetical, you have a 500K mortgage, your monthly re-payments are £2K.
what is in your buffer/safety net? for the time between now when ur offer is accepted to exchange, and even in the first couple of months?i'm risk adverse and advising £5k min!
-
• #9692
Where are you getting 2% interest on cash? I want in!
-
• #9693
I don't understand the question...
What is the buffer covering and when?
-
• #9694
2.5 mths, not risk averse at all!
I'd say 6 mths contingency would be a sensible target, and for the truly risk averse, 12 mths, not necessarily in cash, but assets that can be easily liquidated

Such as bicycles

I invest heavily in bicycles

Santander123, Lloyds current both pay more than that
-
• #9698
I doubt solicitors hold client money in introductory current accounts designed to cross-sell loan products >>>>>

But I could have done if they had "acted in the best interests of their client" and told me I'd be getting fuck all squared.

This is not a buying home quesiton as such, but my content insurance is asking the year when the house I live is was built? Not when the flats were converted, but when the actual house was built.
I don't see how this matters with content insurance only, but hey ho. My landlady says she doesn't know as she only bought the flat and she pays her share of building insurance to the landlord of the flat abov as they own the land or whatever. Now I can't ask them because they are the biggest assholes in the world. Anywhere I could find out this info?
I'm going to build a monstrosity!
