  • Isn't the point of a worktop that you work on it and it wears?

  • We've got chopping boards made out of the same Iroku of the worksurface, use them to chop on so the surface itself stays un-cut. It is changing colour as it ages, which is nice as it reflects the natural origin as it were.

  • No, that is work wear, also known as business attire.

  • What's the going rate for getting a will as a couple? We're using quite a nice but pricey solicitor for the conveyancing and possibly deed of trust but quoted for the will at £575 +VAT, bit steep?

  • Birch ply with Osmo oil:

  • £200 max including the VAT

  • Kitchen flooring - give me options please?

  • you really are building this kitchen upside down!

you want underfloor heating as well?

fawn carpet tiles, always look well, and as they catch the gravy, coffee stains, add a natural patina and stickiness..

  • Lino in a mock quarry tile effect.

  • My parents have quarry tiles which I quite like. You can also get wood-effect tiles which I thought looked great. Think they were in Tile Depot. Might be expensive for a large area.

  • it's called amtico now

  • cupbaords looking nice. some good handiwork there.
what are you doing about the draining board if you wash some dishes up? will you just place it on the wooden worktop?
also those lamps are they a permanent arrangement or just temporary?

  • When I did my kitchen we kept the old flooring since we love it so much. It is 70's wood plank effect lino that someone has painted with translucent red. Yep, red wood effect lino. It rocks.

  • Dishwasher is in the middle of the three units under the window, means that "washing up" is the odd spoon/big frying pan, which I dry as I go.

The lamps are staying, but I'll wire them into the lighting circuit rather than having them plugged into the worktop sockets.

  • Not tiles for flooring.

  • I really like polished concrete...

  • That must take a few packs of sandpaper!

  • Yeah... but with one of these:

It will only take you about 5 years.

  • ^^what an unfriendly looking place

Senso would look great with those units, though you would have needed to do it before you put the rest of the kitchen in.

  • That'll work, @Dammit will still be changing his kitchen tops in five years.

  • Happy now?

    She's smiling and everything.

  • Fuck living next door to a chippy

  • She won't be smiling when she slips over in her socks and face plants concrete.

  • And if you drop anything, it WILL smash. Never getting away with a bounce with that stuff.
