Sofa.com is ok although I now hate the one I have. The futon store does some nice ones and I think there are some nice g plan or errol ones by Hemmingway design in john Lewis.
Also, retro zebra or the peanut vendor for vintage. -

Dead nice. I hate my sofa.

A bit hackneyed but DFS actually do some decent ones. You're not going to get the cutting edge of style but I've got a black leather sofa that is six years old and looks like new

You could try Blue Sun Tree, they do reproductions (i.e. knockoffs) of classic designs and the quality of their stuff is pretty good. Had some Hermann Miller and Eames chairs from them and they've done the job.

pro-tips
1 - scour ebay for a s/h matching item then cannibalise it, saved mesen £300 on a brushed nickel finish franke mixer that way
2 - google the individual spare parts from the diagram > http://www.mgstaps.com/sites/default/files/ESP%20-%200131%20-%20T45%20SP.PDF

Anyone got any experience with real (solid fuel) fireplaces, how they get installed and the best place to get good Victorian style cast-iron ones? We have gaping holes in our living room/dining room where the old ones were.
One of the fireplaces was a write-off, the other was an all in one job that might be salvageable. Just need to know whats involved in getting a fireplace in.

No experience in this area but maybe try Amazing Grates in Finchley.

You could try Grate Expectations in Wimbledon too.

How about Grate Balls of Fire?

If you are SE then Wards did some repairs and fitting for us and were good. Not cheap though, but then I don't think anyone is.
I looked into installing it myself and it looked possible, but you've got to make sure you get the void behind the fireplace properly filled or you loose heat and possibly worse. In the end I figured it was easier to just get someone in to do it.

There's a reclamation place up around Crews Hill if you're northerly. Can't say whether I'd recommend them or not, but could be worth a look. They had a fair few fireplaces in when we went, but they seemed quite expensive.

Went to the South London vintage furniture thing in Lambeth Town Hall earlier. Bought a nice chair, a lamp-shade and aluminium basket. That is all.

Have bought a desk to go with it. Has anyone used Swoon before? Is it gonna be decent or not?

Ignore it.
It doesn't know if you've refitted the kitchen or built an extension or knocked down a bungalow and built a mansion. It doesn't know if the previous owner bought it off his dad cheap or overpaid massively because he's a div.
Ignore it. And when you're done ignoring it ignore it again.
