It was a front drive but half has been hedged off to form a small lawn.

If the neighbours don’t like it, replace it with a really big trampoline, to improve neighbour relations.

Meh I'd leave it. It's there now.
Check for sausages each morning before use etc.

I’ll be inserting them into my FIL if we get fined.

Next time I'm at my parents I'll take a picture of the castle I helped the neighbor build in his back garden.
2 storey with a basement. In brick.

Garage doors....
Not going to make my own but how much of a ball ache would a roller style be for daily bike access Vs standard hinged doors?
Also how much more expensive would hinged doors be given the standard garolla install round here seems to be £895?
-

If they’re motorised it’s easier - press the button as you walk to the garage, press it again as you wheel your bike out. No faff with keys/locks.

Just be aware wireless ones are very easy to clone or often use generic wireless protocols. If you're putting expensive bikes in there I'd have some form of manual lock too.

I'm more worried about the workshop tools than the bike in terms of value.
My bike stable currently consists of my cheap as fk marin and my son's frog that cost more, the main problem is the existing up and over that has no rollers or running rails so everything comes through the house.
I want something quick when it's pissing it down and I dont have to wait for it to be high enough to get the bike in. My keys are usually in the bottom of a bag so the bipper would be hidden till I pull up and dig them out.
I had assumed a hinged door would be much quicker in this situation but open to convincing. I'm also unaware of cost of traditional doors.

Is there a go-to rule for when to use the air/trickle vents in a skylight?
Fwiw, this one is in the kitchen.

Always, especially in a humid place like a kitchen.

so unsurprisingly our buyer “has had second thoughts” and pulled the plug when prodded to move his deposit as exchange had to happen now or never.
what a waste of 8 months (including 12 weeks while his bank dicked everyone around) and this with our sellers non disclosure of section 20 works meant this was never going to happen.
flat back on the market today viewings already booked for monday and start again FFS... -
• #54390
What a shit situation. Are you able to get compensation from the seller for non-disclosure?
-
• #54391
well there was no movement on the retention from them but if you withhold this info for 3 months what did they expect to happen?? actually they probably expected us to give in so close to exchange.
all a bit moot now in light of the buyer pulling out, just want to draw a line under it all and move (literally) on. -

Any idea how I remove the circular disc that’s on the door? The screws underneath are coming loose.

Does the whole disc screw on?
-
• #54394
Pretty sure these usually either screw on or friction fit sometimes with some sort of sticky gasket.
If unscrewing doesn't work, give it a blast with a hair dryer and then see if you can jiggle it off.

Thanks for the advice.

Get a scrap of something skinny, old toothpaste tube etc and use that to lever against with a flat screwdriver so you don't mare the wood. Those usually just pop upwards or unscrew anti clock.

I completed on my house on 18/2/21 with a 2 year fix. My online account says my mortgage doesnt end till 31/3/23 .. is this normal? i could uinderstand 28/2 but dont understand 31/3 ?
-
• #54398
When was your first mortgage payment taken? Guessing it will be 2 years of fixed payments.
-
• #54399
First payment was mid march for ~6 weeks

Yes, because 2 year fixed doesn’t necessarily mean exactly 24 months to most providers.
Some lenders will offer you a 2 year fixed rate expiring on 30th October 2024 right now, with the assumption that this will mean roughly 2 years when you complete. This means if it takes a long time, you could end up with less than 2 years.
Some lenders will start the ‘2 years’ from the following month after completion, so in your case, product finishing end of March 2023.
It does mean that you can’t really look at switching rate until close to the end of Septemver.
When you said front garden, it doesn’t look like a normal front garden?
