I used Central Moves - they were good lads. Only issue is that the lock-ring for the shade on a habitat lamp vanished. Could be worse I guess.
And we got stuck with all their packing rugs.
Need any packing material? Still have 45 cubic feet of chips and enough boxes for a three bed flat...

Approx how much was moving from a 3 bed flat (to a 3 bed house if that is relevant)? Did you get them to pack, or just the actual move?
-

Just the move. £1000 or so. Forth floor flat and no lift, two fairly big vans although probably could have smooshed it all in to one. Unloaded to a storage place which they packed really well.
Then the whole thing again a couple of weeks later when we completed on the house.
Doing your own packing....awful.
Thinking about it is bringing me out in a sweat

The ones I used charged £1,500 for 3 bed flat to house. ~ £500 packing and £1k moving (including dismantling and reassembling a few beds and wardrobes).
2 people for a day to do the packing and 3 people for a day to do the move, all packing materials supplied. I packed one bag of laptops, jewellery, passports, etc and the contents of the fridge/freezer and they did everything else.

For the price they look surprisingly decent and gets rid of that bare lightbulb, serial killer vibe (and take two minutes to fit).

thanks all, will get some quotes

I just used Removals Zone. £180 to move a 2 bed flat 7 miles. I did all the packing.
The two guys were so unfit though. Panting and sweating and stopping for fag breaks.

I'm not sure there's anything wrong with what you've got?

For stairs I’d probably go 33cm but difficult to say without seeing the space

Behold. Bleak. Looks ok during the day. I see the fitting is nowhere near central to the hall - assume it is roughly central between the hallway wall and the stairwell wall. Or something.

I've looked at other lampshades, I can afford other lampshades, but I have these everywhere in various sizes. Not necessarily ikea. They are simply my favourite lampshade.

If I didn't know better, I'd suspect that was my dad's handiwork.
Hah fair. Buying lights online is a total crap shoot.
