  • Wouldn't it just stay in the ground?

The ground is heavier than radon.

Once it is out of the ground it gets moved around due to the way homes are heated (by circulation based on things like radiators).

  • Four months after having our offer accepted on a house we got the keys today! Has been a bit of a frustrating journey with nothing happening most of the time, until this week when everything has happened in a rush!

It'll be nice to finally have a bit of space!

  • Fuck knows, I just googled its density.

  • I read that as a passive aggressive response to Brun's post above yours.

  • Congratulations - enjoy!

  • Congratulations

  • I bought a Milwaukee M12 HV-0. Looks like it will last.

  • awesome, now to: get your cork tiles; drill a hole in your floor to let radon escape; buy a hay hackney/ligne roset sofa; and, feed the (voracious) money pit that is home ownership ; )

  • The makita one is good, if you already have the batteries for it.

  • Anything Milwaukee is usually great, we have a full rack of tools. The portable angle grinder is great for cutting of bike locks ;)

  • Mr Singh's vegetarian pizza though...

  • And Ambala, Saravana Bhavan, Chaiiwala in Ilford.

  • No. Also in a radon affected area, and close to an old asbestos factory. The exposure is tiny.

  • Cheers all - it needs a fair bit of tidying/cleaning/painting but nothing on the level of some of the projects I've seen in here!

  • New windows start going in tomorrow, only two months late.

    Very excited.

  • I have rented my flat from 1st Feb. So, move in 30/31 Jan. A week short of 8 months after buying it.

    It’ll be mostly finished

  • Get that champagne on ice

  • My roof work is dragging on because of the rain. So far there have been no leaks during the process except for yesterday when after fitting the new velux windows, they didn't fit the tiles above the flashing kit on the big one so some water came in around the side. Easy fix and dry as a bone after today's wettening. It's been handy having shit windows as I've been able to mostly speak to the roofers through my closed office window while they go up and down the ladder to the scaffold. There's an awkward shaped apex roof over the front bay that they've done a cracking job on. Took an extra day as it wasn't actually symmetrical to begin with so they built a whole new frame for the tiles so it would be even. Also, they're doing a dry ridge instead of a wet ridge with out charging more (makes up for the extra work they "found" on day one).

Everest survey for the new windows going ahead tomorrow in an apparently covid secure way, whatever that means. Balls, as I type this I've remembered a whole load of shit in the back bedroom that I'll have to shift out of the way first thing.

  • Oh god no, the cork will break his nose or one of the new windows.

Just be really, really careful please.

Is the exorcism before or after you move in?

  • Lmk if you still want that towel rad

  • Sorry, what are you talking about?

You better warn @Señor_Bear too, he had new windows put in by the same guy.

  • Talking about the bad luck @Señor_Bear has had with his house so far.

  • Sorry, what are you talking about?

    Whoosh. :)

tbc was referring to Señor Bear's run of bad luck.
