We can't keep it looking good without a kid, while only one of us works and we have a cleaner...
But thanks.

Many lols. Took my mind off the bastard packing for 5 min.
I have a wife who loves crafty things and knick knacks, plus a toddler. The STATE of my place.

Two cleaners?

Gloves sound like a good shout, thanks. But I reckon it would have been two more things to set down then IMMEDIATELY lose three seconds later. RIP four Sharpies, two pairs of scissors and a screwdriver.

There's something about cardboard boxes isn't there?
Its like the ultimate camouflage.

At least there'll be a little bit of mystery at the other end. "I'll just empty out the weins clothes box" BAM, screwdriver through the hand!

Go to B&Q and buy 5-10 pairs of their various cheap work glove. Your hands will thank you, plus they're useful for carrying furniture etc.

In our shed I taped the lid of a Sharpe to some wire and fixed that to the door. It means you have to put it back. It's the only one I haven't lost.

I bought a massive pack of the thick and thin ones when I was last in the US as they were stupid cheap in target. I have about 3 left so your method sounds a lot better than mine.

For putting the boxes together, I am far too lazy to have put on gloves just for that. If I was spending days or even hours only making boxes, then maybe. But for something sporadic, I am stubborn enough to not stop what I'm doing, put on gloves, make the box then take the gloves off again.

Congratulations!

And grandparents that don't work, live locally and will 'have them' for at least 3 days a week.

• #40264
Cheers BRO.
Took a while...

I've seen the state of other peoples houses after kids and I am not letting that happen to mine.
oh young padawan, how cute, how naive ;)

I am determined.
Will report back.
Not planning on buying many toys, wooden stick and a knife should suffice. -

With a newborn the thing that is killing us is you're always effectively a man down when I comes to cleaning up the carnage that is our first.
It's that combo of them getting everything out all the time, and us forever putting things out of reach.
There is just so much fucking stuff everywhere - and I'm far from a neat freak.

For us it's books and the contents of our cupboards / drawers that is the killer. If we had a decent sized corridor a row of kitchen cabinets mounted high up would be ideal.
One thing that has been a game changer though is that they now remember where they put things and will show you if asked. Before it was an icy stare, or idk.

Aye, plan is to have a double thick wall in the bathroom for ALLL the storage, plus another built in alcove cupboard downstairs then the 1.2m x 1.4m laundry/storage room for everything else.
Can't be having my pink bathroom becoming storage.

exactly like this, waste under the bath fillers. partner raised the same question with the double headed bath about standing on the slope, but it hasn't practically been an issue so far (although the shower end head of the bath does need more attention on cleaning, as London = hard water, and it gets more standing water I guess.) I like it way more as I'm not standing on the plug when I shower, water is flows away from not towards me etc.
I don't bath a lot but it makes it far more comfy definitely!

Cheers buddy, that's 2 to 1, think I'll go with central filler and plug.

get past a truly awful sales team Anglian have been brilliant
Why do they have to do the discount dance?
But more 20% less and shorter lead times. Currently they are winning.

vibes - the perpetual "are you sure, it's expensive & how about some finance but here's why we are fantastic slide 734" without ever actually asking why I'd picked up the phone... ahem.
They dipped on lead times but delivered on install from fitter to central office support. House hasn't fallen over yet either.
I normally use thin work gloves as they dry my hands out.
Bit late now, but something to think about the other end.
