how close is the island to the pantry?
What type of kitchen units and any inspo of what the island will look like?
Pocket door is going through into the rest of the house? -

Nearest the storage for crockery/glasses/cutlery. For unloading you want the minimum distance to putting away IMO.

Designing kitchens seems really hard.
I'm trying to imagine how you'd make say a carbonara and salad and it's seems like a lot of walking. But I can't offer a sensible alternative other than moving the sink higher to range cooker and range cooker to 40/40/60.

Is there enough storage? I'd be tempted to maybe think about overheads if you can - we've got something vaguely similar with the bifold and an island - and losing a whole wall to the door does cut down on how much stuff you can squirrel away.

I've just had my front door (and garage doors) repainted. It's only now I realise that the casual passer-by will assume I've colour-coded the front door to match the top of the recycling bin. Oh well.
And yes, the porch needs a good clean. It's On The List.

Still, can't really claim it didn't need doing.

It's 2020 not 1970, surely pasta and salad isn't all that?

Island is 800mm from the pantry. Pantry will be used for dry good mainly and the doors will be maximum of 480mm. It's freestanding so we could stick it anywhere.
Units are stainless steel, quartz worktop and splashback. Exposed brick on the new wall. Engineered lacquered wood flooring.
Pocket door through to the hallway.

I bet all that lavender smells good.

Not enough storage is deffo a concern - as I said maybe we will need some open shelving above the sink.

It did - it's a bit past its prime now. In fact, I'm about to replace it all (with more lavender). You can't see it in the photos but the bottom 12" is very woody. The bees love it (which is why I'm sticking with lavender) and the postman hates it (because he's scared of bees).

The lower finger prints are from the crawling horde of zombies I often hear tell of out in the home counties, yes?

The original insurer - if you mean the insurer that footed the bill for the works - was long gone.

I'd hardly call East Cambridgeshire "the home counties". Definitely not zombies though - that's far too exciting for round here. They's tyre marks where I've rammed the front door open with the front wheel of a bike. As you do. Unless you've just had the front door repainted.

I think it's fair to say that it needed doing. By someone else, of course. Next project is to completely re-do the ensuite bathroom. I thought the shower seemed a bit bouncy - it turns out there's a leak somewhere under the shower unit, and the piece of chipboard holding the shower tray in place is rotted to fuck and bowing significantly.
Time to try and remember how to lay tiles. Floor and walls. Carpets in bathrooms are a bloody stupid idea. At present there's only carpets on the floor, not the walls. Obvs.

Totally inadvertent. I'm trying to decide whether to own it, and run the "played for and got" argument, or to get a sign made up pointing out that it's a coincidence. The former seems the path of least resistance, so I'll probably go for that.
In other news, today is the first time I've been asked whether I want to update the firmware in a lightbulb. WtactualF?!

Yup, been there...
Unnecessary amounts of marine ply laid in its place to prevent that ever happening again in the event of future leak.

You came across really well. Articulate and calm. Probably not what you were feeling at the time.
Other side might be quieter and less dangerous for the things you inevitably stack up while waiting for it to finish or be emptied.
