This is the guy I used who I've mentioned before who I used http://www.sashrepairs.co.uk/
He was excellent but not the speediest, in part due to being a bit of a perfectionist. I paid something like £300 a window for refurb and about £1k a window for new double glazed units.

Cheers dude. Are they fensa registered? What kinda warranty?

I missed out on the oven chat but you're all wrong.

That is good value.
https://www.londonboxsash.com/ - these guys make very high quality sash windows, can't remember exactly where they sit price wise but it was sensible.

That would actually be quite golf club

• #30564
Great word, will start using in conversations 👍

Is that golf club?! I assumed golf club had taste... well, maybe not quite taste, but at least the smarts to sense check.
-
• #30566
Nah, not tudorbeathen enough.
-
• #30567
Taste, and golf are not bedfellows. Lets face it if you saw anyone wearing an outfit like this outside of a golf club you'd be suspicious of their mental state.

Fair point. Plus golf is for wankers.
-
• #30569
In the example of the golfer pictured above, a wanker who blew sixty million dollars on a gambling spree.
-

Had no idea who he was but very interesting to read up on after a bit of image searching. Eg the gambling, allegedly lost a chunk off a $5000 per go slot machine!

Question for the hive mind - can anyone recommend a locksmith in SE London? Someone with experience of sliding glass doors preferably. Our latch mechanism has failed and need some help.
-
• #30572
Has it failed open or locked closed?
Wether it's open or closed, a couple of these (top and bottom) of the door are a good way of adding extra security for wood, pvc and aluminium framed doors. A locksmith would likely have to order parts for the lock, so probably end up fitting these in the meantime.

If it's open and the sliding leaf is on the inside, wedging a length of broom handle to prevent it from sliding is a quick temporary measure.

• #30573
Yeah. Hang on I'm just going through emails for them.

Ta.

Fortunately it is not urgent.
Wood sash windows, anyone with any experience/recommendations? Had a couple of quotes which differ a fair bit.
Realises I need them to be as period correct as possible without hitting daft money.
