  • Pffft not the same thing

  • Anyone recommend a plumbing-reviewer in South East?

Going to need someone with no outside interests and all the necessary certificates from the Plumbing Reviewers Guild (PRG).

  • Going to need someone with no outside interests and all the necessary certificates from the Plumbing Reviewers Guild (PRG).

That's me! Can't think of anyone tho . Sorry

  • If you're already wired up with a thermostat, it's a fairly straight forward job to DIY, I'd have thought?

Then again, I barely even cycle any more.

  • Depends on your Boiler & heating set up. If you have a modern combi it's kinda easy. Anything else and it gets harder.

  • I understand it is pretty straightforward, and my boiler is less than 3 years old and already set up for wireless 'stat so should be.
But I can't be fucked engaging my brain to sort it. Life is busy/complicated enough at the moment.

The 3rd gen units are about £220 from John Lewis, and a Nest approved supply and installation is about £240.

Is it worth me paying £20 for a human to come and do the snipping of wires and connections of things for me?
A task that I have never done before, and they probably have been doing 3 x a day for the last 5 years?

    Yeah. Probs.
Just need to find the £240 now.

  • As I went through this process it dawned on me that the reward was barely worth the effort and I sacked it off and just got a basic wireless thermostat.

  • I love having my Nest. Being able to switch on the heating on the night bus home is brilliant, and it's worth it just to be able to set a schedule on the internet rather than fiddling with those little buttons on a regular wireless thermostat. I'll PM you contacts for the guy who installed mine

  • My connected thermostat (Netatmo rather than Nest) has probably saved me almost the cost of it from the number of times I've gone away for a week or two and realised I hadn't turned the heating off.

Plus obviously voice control for your thermostat is ideal if you're incredibly lazy.

  • i installed my own nest.. its fairly easy if youre not too worried about messing with your boiler

  • Cross posting from DIY thread...

Anyone got recommendations for someone who can fix external render in the SE area?

Need someone ASAP and finding it hard to pin people down...

  • @amey didn't you have this done at your last place in BR1?

  • i paid a cunt twice to come and install a tado. stupid fucker kept blaming the gadget (of course, tado blamed him) so i took it upon myself to ensure my family's wellbeing and had a go myself.

took me five fucking minutes and presto! we have internet based wellbeing.

    fuck installers. do it yourself.

  • The tado instructions are a piece of piss if your setup is relatively standard.

Enjoy the fucking ballache their 1.5xm30 adapters on your standard British thermostatic valve though.

And the complete inability of tado to grasp why this is a problem, when the adapters pop off every once in a while.

Let me know how the geolocation goes though - I've not bothered with it yet.

  • Seems to be working so far.

I am currently at the country manor and it is telling me that it is 25.4 degrees in the kitchen now, so it won't come on, but i will see if it turns itself on when i am on my way back.

I have just bought a couple of the thermostat valves - i didn't realise they are crap to fit. that was the winning feature. ballz

  • I don’t remember finding the tado valves hard to fit, and haven’t had any problem with them popping off either (yet).

Did have an issue with the geolocation at one point, but that seemed to fix itself when the other half upgraded her phone.

  • Cheers

  • Effing sick of looking for a house. And selling a house.

Would you be pissed off - as a home seller - if I dropped a letter at your house, asking for 5 mins to view it? 'Cos the estate agent holding a bullshit 'open day' has said there are enough people viewing it so now won't let me sign up.

I'm so annoyed. What's 'open' about that? I didn't ring as soon as I saw the bloody thing 'cos it was an 'open day' and didn't want to cancel for any reason. Argh.

    (rant sorry)

  • I'd be pretty fucken pissed if the people I am specifically paying to sell my house actually prevent people from viewing it.

  • I'd be pissed off at the estate agent for limiting the viewings if anything.

  • Right. I'm going to the pub to write the greatest fucking letter in the world.

  • EA are being smug lazy cunts.

    Where ya looking?

If anything falls though with mine im just setting my flat on fire and walking away, forever.

  • Looking in Leeds & Manchester. (Selling in Manchester).

I might join you in the firebombing crew. I'm about ready to disappear in to the wilderness.
