  • Some people pretend that their position of privilege is hard-earned. No idea of the lifestyles, or hardships of others, or how a decision to smoke, or frequent pubs is entirely irrelevant.

  • Yeah.

I've no judgement on anyone who has been able to afford their home, with or without help from their parents. I'm trying to get there myself. The fact that I can even try to get there means I have privilege. And if/when I do buy my own place I hope I'll remember that I was lucky - as well as hard working and dedicated - to get there.

  • words words words - what do they even mean? whoa.
    better.

  • very much TL:DR

  • This has all gone a bit south.

£20k deposit? I saved up £75k and still only bought a pebble dash, 2 bed in Leytonstone

In other news I caught a mouse in one of the mousetraps last night. :)

  • £75k deposit? Blimey

  • Get a cat! It's either a cat or endless supply of mice.

  • Bought a 2 bed maisonette with a garden (and now with a super mega awesome shed) in Upper Norwood/Crystal Palace this time last year with a £12k deposit. Plus fees etc that was just over £20k

  • You did pretty well there. They seem to start from quarter mill in Crystal Palace now

  • @Steve_com what?!

Bought a Studio Flat opposite Forest Hill, £22k deposit!

  • 95% LTV

  • Exchanged on the sale yesterday. Spent all day packing up a 2 bed flat. Must have thrown away ay least 8 giant garden refuse sack of rubbish, gave away all the booze and store cupboard food, sold various bits including half the rugs, all the crockery, 2 bikes and a load of furniture. Fucking place still looks full. And a mess. Now have one day to get it knocked into shape before everything goes into storage and I become technically FERAL.

  • Eurgh m9 fuck that packing bollocks.

Just drink some whisky and torch the lot

  • We paid the removal team to do all the packing.

    Best. Decision. Ever.

  • This is very appealing to me. I don't mind the actual moving part. Shifting heavy shit from one place to another, I can do that all day. Packing just stresses me the fuck out. I'm not even sure why, I can't stand it.

Is it much more on top of the usual removals costs?

  • We've used Simply Removals twice now (both with packing service) on two 2 bed flats.

The last; 2nd floor in hither green to Bromley was £550 including all packing and materials.

  • That's not half bad. Will try to remember them for future move(s) - (read: will ask here again).

mrs_com has a ton of shit/trinkets/stuff/valuable artefacts/snowglobes so may veto but I'll let her sort that shit out and leave other stuff to the pros

  • The fridge bit of my integrated fridge freezer has packed in.
Just after I filled it with a whopping Sainos shop an all.
On the hottest day of the year.

    Recommendations for integrated fridge freezers?
Currently leaning towards an IKEA own one, as we'll be putting a new IKEA kitchen in around it in the next couple of months anyway.

  • if they make their fridges as well as they make their olger / jamclaf / borg / rotch items i would stay well clear

try and get hold of the latest which? at you local library and buy something that they recommend

  • Looking at the HÄFTIGT

I don't got time for which.
I need to buy one now. Like immediately.

  • Do they pack everything? And how long did it take them? I'd feel quite uncomfortable for some strangers to be in my place for more than a day 'going through' my belongings...

  • Miele, Liebherr, Drittereich, basically anything that sounds German.

  • There you have it.
£800 on a fridge and £100 odd of food in the bin.
    All before 4pm.
    Pretty impressive.
