  • ^^ And chemtrails.

The stuff they use to make the sheeple more docile is a hormone that increases moth fertility.

  • I should seal the windows up and fill the whole flat with readymix on the last day of the lease.

    Been done before:

  • As well as fine tweed>

I read this as "fine weed", and thought to myself "those cheeky wee cunts!".

  • Seller's agent just rang and asked us to contribute another £5k to get the deal done as our seller has made an offer on a place but is at her maximum and her offer isn't quite enough. They've asked that we think about it and go back to our buyer with it. They said "if everyone chips in we can get the deal done".

Finding this a bit hard to swallow. We're already over the very top of our budget and i'm not comfortable going back to our buyer upping the price when they've been waiting the best part of three months. Anyway, why should the people in rented accommodation waiting to move into our two bed flat contribute to the budget of a single retired lady selling a four bedroom house to move out to a (presumably even bigger) place on the coast?

It stinks. I REALLY don't want to lose our place but i'm f*ucked if i'm going to borrow even more cash to pay for someone else's retirement.

    Fuck off

  • Contribute another £5k?

    Fuck right off.

  • Can't they just borrow another 5k?

  • "if everyone chips in we can get the deal done"

Well as long as they put it like that. Barely sounds cunty at all.
You scratch my back, and get the person scratching your back to scratch mine too.
    Fuck right off.

  • Hang on I'll set up a justgiving site for her

  • Told them to hop it. They hopped it.

  • ^ I'd chip in a fiver. In fact, if everyone chips in a fiver, surly £5k is not that much?

Seriously, are they even allowed to do it? Like once an offer has been made and accepted?

  • They're "allowed" to do whatever they like till you're under contract. Meh.

  • Seriously, are they even allowed to do it? Like once an offer has been made and accepted?

Oddly, yes. Until you've exchanged then everyone just hopes nobody is a twat

  • Actually I just remember a friend told me recently that a couple they know was asked to reduce the agreed price by 5k moments before the exchange because the buyer wants to buy some paint to paint the whole flat. They told her where to go.

  • Homebase?

  • Nah, B&Q. lol...

TBH, I would have sold under that particular situation as they were moving back to Canada. Now they have to keep coming back to try and seal a deal. Probably gonna end up costing them more in the end.

  • Won't they make more anyway from the increase in value?

  • Dunno, probably, but if I was reading between the line correctly, they simply want to cash in as soon as possible, and it's only been a few months since the 5k worth of paint to Xmas when they tried to sell again, so I am not sure how much more the propriety would be worth.

  • I need to renew my mortgage in 6 months. I also want to open santander and nationwide saving accounts asap. Would it be sensible to wait until after renewal?

  • Don't think a savings account will affect much - there's no credit involved, right - no overdraft.

  • Hah, that's some smart thinking that passed me right by!

  • Only thing you might have fun with is explaining to underwriters what all those transfers between accounts are for and how they are not you spending all of your money on sprockets

  • Having given it more thought I'm probably going to put all the money into the mortgage anyway so it's probably all irrelevant!

  • The general rule of thumb is that paying money off your mortgage is the equivalent of putting that money into a savings account of the same interest rate.

  • Although interest on your savings is taxed whereas you get the full benefit of reduced mortgage interest as it is no longer deductible.

  • Ok sounds like I need to speak to an IFA then.
