Thats what we're planning to do with the side return and maybe extend a little further back
I like the space not hugely keen on what's in it

^^Ah, the problem of what to point your furniture at when you don't have a tv.

Not sure "the wall" is the right solution.

Not sure "the wall" is the right solution.
Either "the fire" or "the sex pit".

We've got solid oak worktops and the one next to the sink that's above a built-in dishwasher is bowing upwards in the middle. I think it's the heat from the dishwasher and the fact the builders didn't oil the worktops before it was installed.
I've oiled them top and bottom (as best I could underneath) And put a heavy box of tiles on top of the bowing one which has helped a bit.
The other surfaces are fine... Oh, and I stained the marble splashback when I was oiling the worktops. FWP.Any ideas?

Do you guys really like all that frameless glass and white walls stuff?

No. Looks like a Grand Designs house for a couple who only own coffee table books and never have sex.
Sexeh mid-century furniture OTOH *rubs thighs manically.

You can get oil stains out of marble if you act quickly. A poultice of flour to draw as much as possible out and use a thinners type marble cleaner like lithofin OIL-EX. Basically rotate the two techniques. Use a lot of clean cloth, don't use kitchen towels with printed patterns, the dye runs. I've done it successfully but it took a few hours over a couple of days.
The worktop might benefit from some sticky backed aluminium sheet, the type that's used for glass to turn it into a mirror. The problem with wood/mdf is it needs to balance moisture in/out on both sides. The aluminium would protect against steam/heat but it would create an imbalance with the top which breathes more normally. Probably better than the situation you have now though. Glass shops have sheets of the mirrored foil.

Yes. Whats wrong with it? I aspire to owning a house I can build a middle class conservatory on to.
I love the kitchen in that place. Building out over the side return and having glass in the roof is what we'd do if we had infinite cash and wanted to stay in this house forever.
