GLOMAR response :)
Why do you ask? -
• #10653
The train line running to Arundel has plenty of wee villages along it which are quite nice, I'm actually down that way most weekends, the place I ride is by Goring By Sea. Fuck Worthing for sure, hell hole.
A chap I worked with lived in Shoreham and commuted in to London, he was a colossal prick but I'd imagine he chose a decent place to live.

if you entering into a share of freehold, i recommend you get a joint building insurance policy with whoever else is part of the freehold. i am finding this out the hard way.

Why does anyone ask anything?
-
• #10657
Ha! Good question.
Yes, its a Warner. Does that mean we're neighbours? -
• #10658
If you're up near Lloyd Park yeah. We've only done surface refurbishment to ours but I'm sure if we started peeling back the layers like you are we'd be in a similar position. The plumbing in the bathroom was a bit WTF but fortunately easily remedied. The lighting in the kitchen's a total bodge but again, it's easily ripped out and replaced with something safe and reliable

Its survey time on the flat we are buying.
Is a Homebuyers Survey good enough?
-
• #10662
Yup, we're right near the park. The buildings are over 100 years old so all the concealed dilapidation is to be expected really... It could be much worse though and at least we're past the taking-things-apart stage now.

Are you inside the proposed conservation area? Get that door painted before they rubber stamp it!
-
• #10664
^ solid.
-
• #10665
Is that the case on all purchases or are there specifics? Was told by a broker the other day it wasn't compulsory either on application of mortgage or completion of exchange.
-
• #10666
Yep! Replacing the front door was one of the things on the list to the freeholders.
Looking at the online votes so far, it looks like the conservation area is pretty unanimous. -
• #10668
I've never seen a mortgage offer in which buildings insurance isn't compulsory.
Are you buying a flat? This may be why as buildings insurance could be covered through any leaseholder charges...
-
• #10669
House, though admittedly it was a flat we were discussing with that broker in particular ( on viewing it was smaller than my current rented en suite so we passed).
-
• #10670
Incidentally, we looked at houses on our budget elsewhere in the country last night and gave serious thought to buying a 5 bed castleish thing on the Isle of Skye.
The geographic weighting on property really is fucked.
-
• #10671
In that case i'd be really surprised if buildings insurance isn't compulsory.

Or a ten bedroom sea-front mansion in Margate.
-
• #10674
Or basically anywhere but London and Brighton.
Now, back to the DayZ thread the lot of you.

The one on King Street is nice. I'm a Norwich lad and would like to move back one day.
Congrats!
