  • Like hippy ;)

    Bang!

  • on the track boys one against one ;o)))

  • Used to have Winamp, but since getting a laptop last year haven't bothered to use anything but WinMedia, so about to download Foobar2000 to see how it goes

(I used to use Windowsblinds all the time on the XP, as well as this)

  • What a fucking downer.

why shouldn't I forget this day?

  • Is that all it was about? No wonder it was a between-event announcement. I thought they'd finally done something good.

  • that ping thing is set to fail in a big way,
    who needs it? only dweebs.

  • coming from a Beatles fan, this didn't warrant the hype. Typical Mac.

  • iTunes used to be fine - back at about 6. Now it's absolutely pitiful. The latest "upgrade" is just a load of utter irritating shite, and is the final straw for me. Apple have really lost the plot completely with that one, so it's bin-and-replace time for me this evening.

  • the wheels are truely off the Apple hype machine. Not everyone resume normal service.

  • Won't use Apple products because of iTunes invasive bloatware

    drag and drop FTW

  • Is that all it was about? No wonder it was a between-event announcement.** I thought they'd finally done something good**.

Two more to go before that and the great Beatles reunion happens

  • I don't mean The Beatles, I meant Apple.

iTunes is horrific, and I was hoping that they were going to pare it back and introduce something new like over-the-air sync between multiple devices held by a person. i.e. a central way to say, put this music on there. But without wires.

You know, like Android does, like the Kindle does.

  • The apple website is absolutely covered in Beatles pictures now.

  • i thought it'd be a competitor to spotify. but that would make money

  • I still think iTunes is ok for what i need (sync apps / phone, organise music). I will never buy any music from them until the deliver it in lossless DRM free format though.

    • Beatles annoucement: Meh.
  • From Fox news, doh!

'What's up Apple's sleeve? Apparently, Manchester's favorite mopheads.According to a report on the Wall Street Journal, the company is preparing to announce that its iTunes Store will soon start carrying music by the Beatles.'

+1 itunes manages music/podcasts/apps on my iphone. Whats not to like?

  • Is there a viable, lightweight alternative for mac... that you can sync an ipod with?

Please tell me you're being facetious?!

  • TC had it pegged yesterday :)

  • I use foobar2000 at home and work now. WMP if I can't be arsed.
My ipod hasn't been used for five years now. I fucked off iTunes some time ago.. sooooo sllooooooww.

  • has anyone used / signed up for itunes match? any good?

Depends what you want to do really.

It's a great idea: a music amnesty - a way to legitimise pirated music for a fee of £21 or whatever per year. Or just a good way to get an extensive CD-based library in the cloud.

I use it, and like it. means that my music library is backed up regardless of hard drive failure or theft. Also frees up space on my phone, and allows me to easily change songs without needing my laptop, even on 3G (but i am with 3 and have no data restriction).

However, just like all wireless cloud based things, the initial setup can be a headache (mine wasn't), especially if a lot of your music can't be 'matched' to equivalent songs in the cloud, and therefore needs to be uploaded. Having your music library backed up to an external source is recommended before you start the process (natch).

If what you want is to be able to see and play your entire library from any apple device (or computer with iTunes installed) when you enter your apple id and connect to the internet, then great. It will do exactly what you want.

However, if you want to try and be clever and get it to work in a way that exits the apple 'walled garden', then be prepared to actually have to be clever (and patient) in order to get it to work. Maybe.

  • What is itunes match? it sounds like a new dating site that matches people to you who have the same taste in music
