You should get out more often.................

That's an odd stance. You're implying that I make poor use of my spare time, and yet you're sitting there commenting on threads that you think are pointless?
Personally, I love music, and the places where I organise, store and listen to my music are very important to me: namely my MacBook and my iPhone. Having a well organised iTunes library for me is like a vinyl aficionado ordering their records alphabetically; nerdy, yes, but entirely reasonable.
Why don't you leave this thread alone? It's in Miscellaneous & Meaningless, it's harming nobody.

Blimey, that sounds arsey. Sorry.
Someone fix iTunes so I stop being ratty to diable.

I think iTunes has been slowly going downhill for some time, and I think the iPod software updates that made music sharing more complicated were to blame.
are there better options?

Yep
You need a girlfriend or boyfriend dependent on which way you swing.
ITunes has grown bloated and I am in fear of turning on my Mac as there "will" be another fcuking update to it that really doesn't do much.
oh and a digital collection will never ever be the same as a vinyl collection.........

I used to love Winamp, but yeah, it bloated. I loved making skins for that, used to spend hours in Paint.
I've switched to Mac OS since then, too.

I'd started and quit and started again before you even knew what a bike was, squeaky pip.
It's completely broken the way I choose music for my iPhone. That little bit where you can choose artists, genres etc - there's no way to unselect all. I'm going to have to go through by hand.
And podcasts! Podcasts seem to have stopped working. Sync all unplayed used to be so simple, doesn't seem to work at all now.
And it keeps telling me that I don't have space for 12GB of files to sync, even though I deselect everything so there should only be apps, contacts, calendars and photos - 600MB at most.
Not very happy with Apple this evening. And to think that I always defend iTunes when people slate it...
