Excellent! just what the world needs, more cycle-wear that makes you look like a Douche.
currently im eyeing up one of these http://www.evanscycles.com/products/gore-bike-wear/cosmo-plus-windstopper-soft-shell-jacket-ec016061
but i do wonder whether soft shells are worth the money you pay (opinions welcome!?) but its pretty, and i have a student loan coming, so i may do something rash....

That Giordana I posted is from their top 'body clone' range, and is currently half price at CRC. Its mega soft and comfortable, and will keep you dry to a point. Its recommended for use under 5C, though I've been wearing mine with just my bibs under on windy 10C days comfortably.

Its actually really waterproof for a softshell. During a long ride I got caught in a monsoon like rain storm. After 60mins the rain had just started to seep through the arms slightly. At this point, had I been wearing a standard rain jacket, I would be drowning in my own sweat anyway.
This sounds fair....
**
*The three layer material lends itself very well to keeping the body warm, with ample protection from the wind. It does struggle a little in heavy bouts of rain, but then it's not designed to be 100% waterproof. As it is then, it copes with most typical weather conditions superbly well. *
*
*Oh, and it contains titaniun, so automatic win ;)

I was going to wear shorts - all winter. So far looking good, but there is a-ways to go.
Also ear muffs - a must for avoiding those cold head headaches you get. -

I wear shorts all winter, I just put a pair of windstopper tights on before I put the shorts on.

Tights under shorts don't count as shorts though do they?
They count as tights that you're not proud of. Tights that you're trying to cover up.If I ever wear tights I have shorts over the top too....

I think they exist independant of each other.
I've gone out just wearing the tights, and more commonly just wearing the shorts, ergo they are two seperate garments.
EDIT- with a T-shirt etc also.

Also ear muffs - a must for avoiding those cold head headaches you get.I've worn earmuffs on the bike in winter ever since I was a kid, as I get really bad earache from the wind on the bike. Problem is, the only ones you can get are those fluffy ones and they make you look like a dick and/or a toddler. I've found this hat which I may splash out for to solve the problem:

Earflaps. Genius.
