Is it a 2 hour ride there ?
I'm riding it at 10:48 ... that doesnt give me much fuck up/pu cture time if setting off at 8:45. -
• #78
It's just over an hour from Crystal Palace, depending on what route you take.
-
• #79
18miles from crystal palace. should make it in time even with delays and you'll arrive with nice warmed up legs -ftw
and if lots of flats i'll play domestic and draft you out there in time. -
• #80
fantastic, not sure how my flatmate will cope at 18mph though.
actually he can HTFU i will be drafting even without delays! -

I might come down for this, see how wasted I get on saturday. And tex - are you going to make it all the way there this time? Last long ride I saw you on, you gave up and went home half way???

I gave up training a few weeks ago. The hibernation season has kicked in, and with it the urge to sleep/stuff my face/get shit-faced.
It's okay though. I'm riding track next year. Being lazy, fat, and alcoholic appears de rigeur for that discipline.Sounds fab.
I'm out of this one again. I'm going to try a couple of TTs out west instead.
It's about time I got out on the bike for a proper ride. I've been following BMMFs training plan to a tee.. sleep/stuff my face/get shit-faced...

18 mph over a mostly uphill route is about 25% faster than i reckon i normaly ride so i'll probably get dropped at around Elmers End but I'm looking forward to watching the hill climb (something I've never done before) so even if i end up in an autobus of just me i'll get to the hill in time and i'm saying now that i don't expect you guys to wait for me.
I'll be the one looking scared outside CSG on a orange and yellow Orbea if you could just say hi before you disappear up the road! - texas

My comment was at Matt (pilky) who's a strong rider. It's a forum ride, we'll not leave you behind.

it's starting to sound like an epic ride to the far side of the world.
don't forget to tell your mums where you are going.:-)

right now I'm most probably out, knee flared up on the ride back from osterley and west beers, and I don't think a rigorous ride over hills to a hill climb will do it any good. Its getting back to normal, slowly, but don't want to risk it, as it looks like being decent weather (not raining) for next week and I want to be on the bike now I've got no work on.
So enjoy it and cheer on illy, who bumped into one mr merckx at the bike show for inspiration. Good luck big man, you'll be faster than last year deffo...- texas

I asked my mum to come with me but she said it was okay to go without her as there are some big boys who can look after me.

As Ant says, it's not a hard ride. There are a couple of hills but nothing that a regular cyclist should find challenging.
It's definitely do-able fixed, we've ridden some of the hills on the TNRC. They are pretty evenly graded.
-
• #98
The difficult bit was coming down one of the hills.

Yes, I've ridden that bit twice now. The first time I think I got off. I made it down in the saddle the second time (on the Meridian ride), but I wasn't comfortable descending. I'm a rubbish descender, but that blind bend definitely won't help anyone.

Which descent is this, the one down from Biggin Hill? I was going to suggest an alternative route that has less traffic and less steep hills when I hooked up with everyone at CP in the morning.
Right you cunt, thats ,motivation enough for me to kick your arse in every frickin race next season.
FFS! Fat and alcoholic, fine, but lazy, grrrrrrr
Shall I add this to the winter training/motivation thread?
