There's a really strong race scene and it's right good fun. Go SS or fixed, you rarely ever use gears :p

Mine's gonna be SS and old-school stylee, so I've not got much of use to you Andy....
Have you had a go, Matt?

I seem to remember you telling me quite the opposite after racing on your tricross!

Ha, really! I must be looking back fondly upon it. Well certain courses you don't need gears, especially when it's really muddy.
Yeah, I've raced about 3 seasons worth of it, did the University Championship's last year and thought I was about to die. But from memory there's at least 2 series on over winter, one run by British Cycling and another by the TLI.

Season kicked off a few weeks ago probably and is likely to run until January/February time. But now there's some events that run during summer too.

Wicked. You racing any? Any advice for a starter/fat cunt. Do you just turn up on the day to enter? How much will it suck if I'm in bad shape? What pedals do you use?
-

Might do one or two around Xmas when I'm back depending what shape I'm in. Just rock up on the day and pay the money. It'll be 45 minutes of hell but it always is, doubt you'll be last as there's always some old guys who get lapped. Pedals of choice are crank bros candy/eggbeater, clear mud easily, kind on knees and easily to clip into. Learn how to ride in mud, dismount and run up hills.

This is going to suck and be brilliant at the same time. Psyched. Let me know anything you plan on going to and I'll try and get along myself!
