I've just sent you the London Polo Calendar.
What is this document ? Can you send it to me please? I need to find a spare date for a pub quiz in the Libertine as a fundraiser for the Open.

By being one of the people with permission to do so.
I think it's me, Mrak, PK, and some others.

And how does one become one of those people?
-
• #782
There are about a zillion people with access. Send me your email, kev.

These courts have just had a new cage installed, I'm checking them out later. My sister mentioned that they definitely allow camping directly next to the court as they've held weekend long netball tournaments there.

Good news on Hackney Downs and London Fields:
The Council's new fees and charges came into effect on the 1st April. A new charge of £10 has been approved for the use of the MUGA floodlights at both Hackney Downs and London Fields.
Courts can be booked by schools and community groups delivering sporting activity in core hours, 8am-6pm.
When the court is not booked during core hours the court will operate on a free turn up and play basis.
From September to May inclusive, any group / team will be able to book the court and floodlights from 6-9pm for a £10/hour charge.
From June 1st-to 31st August the courts will not be bookable from 6pm, any group / team are free to use the courts without charge.
All daytime bookings will cease during the school summer holidays freeing the court up for public turn up and play use except for when activity sessions organised by LBH are organised or the court is being utilised as part of an official event.
All floodlight bookings will be made through GLL on their pitch booking phone number, 020 8986 7955.
I suppose the summer arrangement means that there won't be floodlighting after 9pm, but that is probably as it has always been?

That's good news for the winter. Thanks Oliver.

That's great.
If anyone sees any courts in Falmouth let me know! ;)

Bit like a one night stand - you wake up in the light of day, and it doesnt look as good as it did before when it was dark and you'd had a few beers. It is the one I mentioned last night, it's near the junction of Elmington Road and Sansom Street in Camberwell. Really good surface, but on second viewing no bigger than Newington, and it has the minus of the goals sticking out.

This one is on Butler Close in Peckham. Lights too, though I havent seen them in action, I'll drop around there some evening and have a look. Could be good. Not ideal with the basketball rings on the side and the small drainage groove, but definitely better than the car park for beginners, or if deep south easties want to have a few games...

I've found a new court right around the corner from my house. It is 34 x 16m. That's a bit small -- I think the standard now is 40x20 -- but it is bigger than London Fields and close to Newt. It has lights.
Westway: 45m x 25m
Mitchinson: 40m x 25m
Downs: 36m x 18m
Newington: 35m x 18m
Dalston: 34m x 16m
London Fields: 28m x 15m
Downham: 26m x 16m?Should we give it a try next Tues? It's about 1 mile from Mitch so we can go there if it's too small. I'll see how late they are on tonight.

I just spotted that a new MUGA is being fundraised for at Butterfield Green:
http://www.shakespeareresidents.org.uk/2013/11/sra-meeting-wednesday-11-september-2013.html
I suspect the intention is to upgrade the existing MUGA:
(Their June minutes mention the Milton Grove end.)
Might it be worth buzzing in there to find out what the plans are? It looks as if there would be enough space for quite a large court. Perhaps even floodlit? (I suspect more likely not.)

Another Hackney parks development project:
http://www.hackney.gov.uk/mabley-green.htm
Nothing poloable planned here but a lot of space being used/developed. Mabley Green is close to the A12 underpass where there was a brief hope of developing a covered polo court.
Astroturf pitches are being planned. About one half of the area for one of them (which seems to be around 40x60m) would make for a polo court. There's also the former car park next to Lee Conservancy Road. That seems to be around 20x30m (maybe a bit less). Perhaps it could be enlarged a little, with a half-height barrier, and a tall fence along Lee Conservancy Road?
Obviously, having a court further away from the houses on Lee Conservancy Road would be ideal, but I could imagine that this might work.
The consultation closes on the 17th January. I think it would well be worth submitting a response.

From @emab
Bingfield Park
D, World Champ and myself checked it out last night.
Surface - really good, could do with a sweep.
Size - perfecto.
Lights - none suitable for polo
Boards - low concrete on the sides and higher fence on the ends, really good rebounds on both. One side is curved but this is only really noticeable on google maps. Not a real life issue.
Obstacles- there are goals on the court, but they are set further back than at mitch.
Location - really nice little park, great chill viewing options on the side (think Downham). It is near an estate and also some pretty bling flats. Finally it is that bit more central for southies. PDFCOMM approves. -

Would anyone be interested in some Croydon space?
It's maybe a bit far out for some but empty space in work(and so indoor) could be really handy. Only thing is anything happens nobody was ever here.
Someone polo get in touch.

@Clockwise PM coming.
Yes cam! FPC! Spots look rad. I'm sure you get loads of help. Is it a school? Could we camp there? Summer holidays?
