Isn't that the line you use to sell flats in "upcoming" areas?

Heygate metal goals and basketball posts have been removed, making it a potentially brilliant court.
Myself and John H went and checked it out this evening, its got a lot of leaves around the edges, but apart from that, its good to go. Probably a bit bigger than Mitch. No lights. Be great to try it out for Thursday evening's crowded playoff schedule. -

sounds awesome kev, if john has checked it out too and thinks its good we should play our fixture there on thursday. clear the leaves and get some cones and were good to go
-

Yeah, it's no Newington, but it should do if we need to go somewhere else on tomorrow.
-
• #592
do you think that it has been cleared making ready for the demolition?

Here's some photos. As John said its now basically like a big Downham.
There's lots of leaves and shit on the court but apart from that it seems OK. No metal bits sticking up where the posts were before.

Also I got a contact for the Coral Street court (with the lights, near Waterloo station) that Josh posted up a while back. A group called Blackfriars Resettlement have ownership/management of it. I'll talk to her on Friday.

Not much time left now in the Heygate court. A pity.

From polo videos thread...
The ones in the sun were 17 "lengths" long and the one indoors was 19 lengths, such a relatively small difference, but the indoor court felt great and the outdoor courts felt "ok".
No idea about actual size in meters though, the London Open courts would ideally be bigger (18.5m x 27m is Downs size I think), but it's hard work to find bigger areas in London.
I was in Battersea Park with Lori on Thursday... They have a massive tarmac events area in the middle of the park that's in great condition, I used to play street hockey there as a kid... Might be worth considering for next year's Open... I reckon you could get about 8 full-size courts in there, maybe more... Would be a great location if London ever hosted the Worlds... Big pic below to give you a sense of scale...

kennington looked pretty good from road side...

I got a response from Lambeth regarding the court on Coral Street with the floodlights:
"To my understanding the Courts at Coral Street are aligned with the Tanswell Housing Estate and this facility is built and managed by Lambeth Housing Services for estate residence usage only."

London Fields MUGA construction starts in September. Bike polo's listed as one of the main activities for the court (they're looking into doing bike polo markings, having a wooden boarded base and no gaps behind the goals), should be a "better" version of Downs court, woop.
Not tried it out yet, but might make a local practice court for those in Bethnal Green, if nothing else, will see if the (crappy) lights are on tomorrow.
