  • Depends how much yentzing you plan to get in?

  • Bamboo bikes, Bamboo underpants.

    Leave some for the Pandas

  • Bamboo is just rayon, it has nowhere near the anti odour properties of wool.
If you shower everyday, you could probably get 3-4 days out of merino before having to launder. When travelling I'll just wash them in the sink with whatever shampoo is available, the good stuff (icebreaker, et cetera) will dry overnight.

  • gross, just get two

  • Sorry, two was implied.

  • 3 weeks non stop.

  • am thinking of using merino leggings this winter - for when I am not wearing bibshorts and merino knee warmers won't stay up if they are not tucked under the gripper on the legs of bibshorts

anyone used the janus merino stuff? what are the differences between their blackwool and designwool?

  • Any suggestions on mid/high-end merino base layers? If they are like seriously 10x better than competition, then overpriced shit considered too.

  • Rapha

  • I've found Icebreaker to still be better than anything else I've tried, even though it's gone offshore and a little downhill.

  • Hmmm, roughly the same price, I guess I'll have to give Rapha a go.

  • I still think the Rapha base layers offer real value for money. They last for years (assuming you can keep the moths away) and work better than any others I've tried.

  • Lidl had some merino base layers in recently. £14.99. Wish I'd bought two as they were gone when I went back to the store in Tottenham. Might still find them in other stores...

  • Anyone had any experience of wool shorts?

I don't mean the kind of thing everyone used to wear before the early 80s, but there seem to be a few brands doing merino or merino blend shorts / bibs these days (Howies, Ibex, couple of others). I would imagine they would be less clammy than synthetic bibs and nice and warm too for winter. Are there any people have tried and can recommend?

  • You scandi's know it but I am currently stalking Devold on "the site which can't be name" for I love their stuff.

Rapha's merino baselayer weave is different to Rapha's merino tshirt weave.
My Icebreakers, the fabric is more similar to Rapha's merino tshirt.
Compare and contrast, I love both Rapha products, the icebreaker I find a bit scratchy.

  • +1 for Devold from 'that' site.

  • Rapha it is then.

That was quick and painless; thanks.

hmmm...just bought some more. Fwd planning and all that.
Bring it winter, come get me.

  • If you can put up with phrases like "go-to longjohn" then some Finisterre merino stuff is currently on sale

    http://www.finisterreuk.com/

  • And polo's famous @Todd works there.

  • Been to a couple of TKmaxx's recently, loads of extra fine merino jumpers £10-25.

  • Shameless spam, a couple of bits of merino in my for sale thread;

    Thanks

It's not banned as such they just have a referral system which could result in spamming.

  • Rapha merino base layers are 2nd to none.
