  • I used to slide down my stairs in a sleeping bag when i was a nipper.

Get in! you could get through a whole weekend just doing that. my parents stairs had the front door smack at the bottom and all my mother could hear was the rapid thud of her son and daughter skipping off the steps then the scream and crack as they hit the door, followed by the tapping of the disloged door knocker. happy times!

    Fond memories.

  • I am getting my sleeping bag out as we speak, and heading for the 13 stepper . . .

  • In the olden days we used to jump down stairs on mountain bikes and, latterly, BMXes. Now that I'm an adult riding a road bike I wouldn't dream of it. GAFB.

I agree with this man. It's like trying to do Motocross on a MotoGP bike.

    For those who like reminiscing.

  • Biggest i've done fixed is a 6 set round the back of Bishopsgate.
Biggest i've done on a bmx was a 10 set which were pretty long as well.
I hope to better this on my new 24 inch street machine.
I think much bigger than that on fixed and if you don't get the landing perfect its going to hurt your arse and your knees big time!
I've seen a friend do a 10 flat 10 double stair set on a DH bike though....to flat, that was fucking gnarly.
Same guy did a 6 flat 6 double set on a bmx, not sure if he rides much these days though.
On fixed I think anything over 4 is a reasonble size, anything over 6 is pretty big, 8+ on fixed and you either have balls of titanium or no fear :)

    Wonka apparently.

  • I was racing with some friends after we got out the pub and we were caning towards what I thought were maybe 2 steps that were no bigger than a large curb, as we got closer they both stopped and I had no idea why, that was until I felt myself falling into the darkness!

I think it was about four or five stairs but it felt like a SHIT load more though. I think the only reason I landed it was because I thought it was curb height and I knew I was going to be riding away fine.
The best part was seeing them clapping and then calling them pussies for not trying it. They still think that I meant to do it. I will probably never try and do it properly.
