Core of my system is a Rega Mira 3 + Epos M12i speakers. I need a new turntable at some point - they're currently getting the most use from decent quality audio files -> DAC.

It use to be a switch on the back of the amps in the old days like on one of these>>
I still use one of these as my mixing turntables amp (the pre stage is fucked) but I can bypass it, as I'm using a mixer, at the back:
Anyone know if this will be sufficient for those tannoys up there?^

I am happy with my modern NAD amp, nd BOSE speakers for now.... my old cheap turntable died a few months ago, and have been thinking about investing in something half decent.
on another note.... my BOSE QC2 headphones broke the other day...... one week after the warranty ran out.
annoyed to say the least.
Hoops - if you are after a decent turntable I have a Heybrook TT2 for sale (turntable only - no arm) Equivalent to an early ish Linn LP12 although much easier to setup.

Anybody know anything about these?
Tannoy Dual Concentrics are stunning speakers - although the "small" cabs those ones are in will probably limit them somewhat.
They are pretty sensitive so wont need a lot of power to drive them (ie that nad will be fine but its not really up to the standard of the speakers)Best speakers I ever heard were a pair of Tannoy Westminsters (look like wardrobes...) *

Everyone seemed to have an LP12, I wanted something a little different, albeit an nicely set sondek is top notch.
So I bought one of these:
The Nima tonearm is a unipivot which makes for fun queuing during a relaxed listening session accompanied with a couple of bottles of vino!

1/ The mechanic and it's plinth (idler drive, belt drive... and their various optimum settings...)
2/ The tonearm
3/ The cartridgePlease correct me if I get it wrong!

Gold Tannoy DCs are very sought after, judging by the numebr of fans on audio forums. You're lucky.

Skully
Have a chat with the guys at Walrus Systems (New Quebec St W1 I think), they always have a few pairs of the various Tannoy's knocking about (like the Westminsters pictured above), so could no doubt give some advice regarding amps etc.
If I recall correctly the dual concentric thing gives an excellent stereo image as there is a single point source of the sound.

Well I never, I thought they were just some old shit. Goody! Looking forward to getting them set up. I've had em sitting around under my desk for ages. Missing the threaded wire clamp things, but I'll work something out.

Carver amps, Micro Seiki turntable and Polk SDAs
Old stuff but never a reason to get rid of it.
When living in the UK years ago I was 2 miles from the QUAD factory and didn't know it until the day before leaving.

Also had a Naim CDi...with a NAT 02 tuner....all brilliant sound....but if i again could afford it and had the space then the next turntable [still have 1000 vinyl LPs] would be a Nottingham Analogue Hyperspace or better
/attachments/15771.......unbelievable sound quality with a valve amp......ohh hifi porn........lovely jubbly.
