320 and better is my cut-off as well, all of my cds are burned into my itunes at that rate and other than percieved differences down to volume changes when I switch back and forth I can't tell any difference.

I picked up on Plex from the Roon forum as Plex adding Tidal has been creating some chatter amongst Roon users. I've not got the lifetime membership yet, still on the annual one but will probably go down the lifetime route if nothing else emerges soon.
I'm not sure you need to upgrade your endpoints to get the most from Roon, depends what you want from the multiroom setup though. I tend to have a critical listening place and then the multi room stuff is less hi-fi. I should try Plex to see what the features are like but a quick rundown it looks like there's a fair bit of metadata missing that Roon has.
Most Roon users seem to want an alternative to Tidal so Qobuz would be interesting. In short I've stuck with Roon because I really enjoy listening to music with it. I do find it difficult to spend that sort of money on software though.

I've been enjoying using these tracks on the new setup, as some reference listening points.

Also James Blakes, "Limit to your Love" for some bonkers bass line action. (thanks @brm)
Any songs that you guys recommend to show off with?

The concept itself of vinyl as hi-fi is kind of a joke anyway!
(I still have many records) -

A dude is coming to look at it this weekend. He might want it without the arm if you’ interested

Just chiming in to say I'm so, so impressed with my yamaha WXA50. This little thing really does pack a punch.
I picked up a sound card for my PC which means I can play lossless through it and the music cast feature means I can play records in the living room upstairs.
Probably features that have been around for years, but honestly I'm really bloody impressed.
Also the Dalis are incredible, but I'm waiting for a weekend to really try them out/ burn them in.

Oh also - I've paid for spotify for the year for my dad, now his hifi set up doesn't have bluetooth or any wireless connectivity. He's a lover of records but can see himself using spotify when he just wants the odd song.
What options do I have to connect his iPad/ some laptop (the spotify) source to his amp wirelessly? Much to my mum's annoyance he quite likes the idea of being able to control it while cooking.
As far as I can see I have bluetooth - any recommendations? Or some sort of amazon/ google home thing?

Bluetooth dongle or chromecast audio are the obvious. Amazon echo dot or google home mini if he wants to control it by voice (although personally I find it a real struggle to decide what I want to listen to if I can't scan through a music library).

^^ I think I can tell the difference between CDs burned from flac
versus CDs burned from 320mbps MP3s ... but maybe I'm just imagining
it. Hard to be sure.“moDernisT” is a haunting track created by Ryan Maguire, a PhD student in Composition and Computer Technologies at the University of Virginia Center for Computer Music, using the data left over when the Suzanne Vega single “Tom’s Diner” was compressed into an MP3 file. The track is the first entry in Maguire’s The Ghost in the MP3 project, chosen because the Vega song was used in early MP3 coding tests.

Can't find your asd now, remind me which arm you have?

Chromecast music?
Can I use a 3.5mm (from the chromecast) into the amp through RCA?
Does this use wifi opposed to bluetooth? -
• #5346
Yep, it's a dual purpose mini-toslink and 3.5mm out, so RCA works fine.
Streams over WiFi, which is great because it works if your phone loses connection. Phone acts more like a remote

It's a Micro Seiki MA-202 I have had it rewired with KAB Superflex and it has had the bearings upgraded to hybrid ceramic. Headshell and new copper litz leads. I also have an ebony armboard that should probably go with the arm.

No techno?! What, no Dave Clarke?
Arm looks nice, will likely take that if you don't shift it with the deck.
What cart do you have in it? Are you selling that as well?
-
• #5349
It's a Hana SL. I am unsure about whether to shift this or keep it as i bought it new and it has only done (exactly!) 400 sides and i'd likely take a haircut on it if i sold. plus it is fucken cool.
