I find my laptop has issues as well... Try use your phone as the source rather than your laptop.

I have those stands at the moment under a set of BX2s.
I found that they worked best with some sorbothane isolation pads between the speaker and the stand.

Through that link got searching and ended up with Airfoil works ok a bit of lag between computer and audio but you can play link itunes, spotify etc through it. they also have a airfoil speakers ap where you can group ones together for full house specs, i dont need that as my flat is small

Managed to pick up a technics sl1800 but need to get a new cart and stylus, any recommendations for a good match at not silly prices, was looking at ortofon m2 or if my budget goes a denon DL 110 but that may be pushing it looking for under 150 if possible

Haha never mind then!

Just put the SL1210 back in.
Bloody hell it's good.

How about the Audio Technica AT95 with a Paratrace stylus?
It comes in a little over budget but you could get the AT95, wear out the stylus and then upgrade later to make the transition a little easier.

^ The AT95 punches well above its weight - the internals are used in other higher-end cartridges such as Clearaudio Aarum which is around £350.

Another vote for the AT95, only downside is very low output so you need plenty of gain from the phono stage. The Nagaoka MP-110 is a great cart with different qualities for around £100, it's smoother and a little rolled off by comparison.

This isn't a gear question or anything, more of an observation, would like to know if I'm imagining things!
Lately I've been listening to a bunch of live recordings from kexp.org via YouTube... Yeah hi fidelity... But it seems that their recordings are produced beautifully and everything sounds great, whatever the genre or artist. Just listening through senn momentum over ears but damn, the sounds are good! Spacious, deep, detailed and never harsh. These cans never sounded that good.
What am I hearing? Better recording? Less dynamic compression? Some YouTube trickery?
Aside from all that, some really interesting sets on there.

My 70s Yamaha CA-600 is playing up. Right output is intermittent. Thought it was the speaker/output selector as switching that a few times seems to bring it back but now I notice it cuts out below a certain volume and cranking the volume with the balance set full right brings it back temporarily. I'm on a budget so was wondering if opening up and blasting a few switches and pots with canned air might do the trick? Is there anything I need to know about cleaning switches (other than don't touch anything)...

I tried once to play the audio of a movie through them and the lag was horrible. I guess they use magicary to get all the chromecasts in sync with each other so you cant hear any difference room to room which creates a minor delay.

Yeah that airfoil would be shite with a film, had look at mkchromecast today bit intermittent with linking, someone out there from google needs to sort the Chromecast and Mac thing

Anyone have an amp-sized box I can borrow for a week or two?
-
• #4199
I think I still have the box my Meridian power amp came in, but that's bigger than most amps.
could work with some extra padding.
