  • how does the quad sound skully ? have you fired her up yet ?

and as for speaker stands i would recommend some large concrete building blocks

i have them in my room and do not allow the speakers to move a mm big solid and sturdy

find two of these at your local builders merchant and they do a great job ... shame about the aesthetics

  • nope... having trouble getting them home... long story...

  • ... shame about the aesthetics ...

I wouldn;t mind, but for my better half, this^

  • Can anyone let me have / buy their old speaker stands? I need something really low, just enough to get my Tannoy LGMs off the floor. They're about 80cm high so I guess I don't want much over 25 to 40cm stands. I need them to have spikes so i can adjust the height, my floor is uneven ...

    Please....

what happened to those awesome girder sections you used to have?
    they could take the BASS....

  • get some gold aerosol spray and make it look blinging skully
missus got to be happy with it then

  • what happened to those awesome girder sections you used to have?

Fuck! I'd forgotten about those! Unfortunately I think I had two that were different heights....

better call my mum and ask if she's still got em. I reckon she'll have got rid of them though...

    Cheers for the reminder!

  • In case anybody can bear channeling funds away from life essentials such as current projects, food and shelter, and needs some life-enhancing hifi stuff, I am flogging a bit of my gear here.

Not getting out of the game, just "reconciling" the collection :-)

  • Whilst my set up is nothing compared to some of these- I just found my Denon Amp and speakers in a clearout. So took them back to my room and connected my laptop.
    man they sound good.
Also found my Grado Sr 60 headphones which make music sound better than it should....

    as you were.

  • Hey guys, what do we think of ALBA stereos? I just bought a vintage all-in-one for £531.

  • must be good for that amount.

  • ha!

  • does a picard

  • its not easy being cheesy.

  • I nearly bought a vintage Bang & Olufson, then I thought "why be a cock", stick to modern Bose.

  • ++++ =

  • you got it home then or is it rigged up in the office

  • sweet. nice work skullator.

  • It's very seldom happy days at work ... no it's all installed at home. Still haven't sorted spikes for the speakers yet.

Last night's listening was truly lovely, I had a massive grin on my face without any other stimulants.

from one architects wet dream to another.
perfect if you don't listen to music just watch it.

  • @Skully

you should try Arvo Part 'Te Deum' on the same set-up.

I have that Steve Reich album on SACD and it sounds far better than the vinyl, IMO. A lovely and very classy/cool set up.

  • Rega Planet CD player, Naim Nait 3 and B&W 602 series 2's.

    Lovely set up.
