  • Looks amazing... can imagine you wouldn't get to hear the "sparkling definition" over the general hum of people getting pissed and rustling beards though.

Still, might go check it out. Always wanted to hear massive horn loaded tannoys.

  • Lovely parquet

  • Can't really tell from the photo, have they made any attempt to treat the listening environment or is it all show?>

That 'wood effect' is made from the hair of a thousand ginger hipsters!

  • Heh, I'd go to give it a listen anyway. Why not eh? Think i'll swing by Monday or Tuesday.

Just spent the last two hours digging 8 matching concrete bricks out of the garden to make monitor stands. 4 for each speaker. Scrubbed, washed and dried them. Square of fabric under each stack, trimmed, angled foam mounts on top, then my Adam A5x active monitors. Tweeters are now right at ear height and it's definitely damped down some resonance from the old teak desk they're on. Currently listening to Art Blakey rather loud while tidying up. Sounds great.

  • You should listen to his album Free for All on Blue Note if you haven't heard it. Amazing.

  • Has anyone been perusing the BBC TV center auction catalogue and seen what goodies there are going for cheaps.

  • A little. Some of it is from my old department, so I know the history of some of the kit (ie. well worn!).

  • Ah is it worth while to liase to see what should not be bought ;)

  • any ls 3/5a's for cheeps??!

  • just ls 5/8's

  • ^ the LS5/8s were ours. I have the crossovers at home, but they wouldn't let me take the cabs.

  • The nicest thing I spotted was a BBC-designed ribbon mic called a PGS which was the predecessor to the 4038.

  • i bet there a ton of interesting stuff there if you know what you are looking for
i didn't have a clue what most of it did !

  • Our place has a couple of shelves full of 3/5As....been stockpiling them as spares for years.... I keep trying to nab a pair, but no-one wants to let them go!

  • I think my mate Pete went recently. Looks a bit spesh.

  • Went for the motor upgrade and got a new rega bias 2 cartridge fitted ...totally worth it, feels really solid and sounds great.

I'd wholeheartedly recommend Billy Vee on Lee High Road to anyone needing some work done, super friendly guys and got everything sorted in a couple of days. No installation charge for the motor either!

  • not high end hifi but would do someone a job

  • that dalston place - looks like a 1930s cruise ship but this is a club ? cool must pop down !

  • Ceiling mounted surround sound speakers, what does the hive mind suggest?

  • Ceiling mounted above sound speakers, what does the hive mind suggest?

    FTFY

  • ^^ Convenience over quality, imo.

  • That's why I'll only use them for surround, not for main stereo speakers.

  • Is it for watching tv? Budget?
