  • I just really like CA generally. Have always had great customer service and I really like their house sound. On my third Cambridge integrated now (I’d still be on no. 2 if I still lived in England) and I’ve enjoyed every one of them. If you can find a deal on CX** they’re fantastic amps.

  • I have a spare Project Phono Box MM pre-amp
Would anyone like it for £30? Before I put it on eBay

  • I find your 7" fitting shelf very pleasing.
And that Floating Points LP is 👍

  • Anyone using the WiiM Mini? I'm still a bit lost when it comes to DAC:s and Streamers to be honest but looking for a cheap streamer with internal DAC to replace my old Arylic.
My current amp does not accept any digital inputs. Solely AUX.
Is the Aux/3.5mm output from the WiiM "as good" as using SPDIF?

I'll mostly be listening through Spotify Connect so no audiophile lossless quality but still i'd like to get the most quality out of the thing.

  • Yep. Is unbeatable for the price IMO. Great device. Spotify Connect still sounds good through it. I do have mine going into a Topping E30 though.

  • I just found a can of lentils inside my speaker. I had to reach in and push it out the other bass reflex port. Kids.

  • i've read that mung beans sound better.

  • Was it sounding a bit tinny?

  • Objectively, is it better to have a HomePod in the bedroom and get rid of the eltax bookshelf speakers I have or can someone recommend me something small and Bluetooth (preferably with an integrated power source and without an external aerial).
Use will be occasional listening while cleaning, soundtracking bedtimes (not like that).

  • Not the smallest, but i've got a Cambridge yoyo (L) hooked up to the tv and it sounds great, can pick them up fairly cheap now if you keep an eye on ebay - has bluetooth / chromecast & digital inputs. I thought about moving mine into the kitchen to replace the old setup I have in there (amp / cd / chromecast audio / Q acoustics 3020) to save space at one point.

Pretty easy on the eye too

  • Radio 4 at bedtime?

  • I’m not that kinky

  • I've decided to sell my second TT, a Pioneer PL-12D from c.1973 ('Made in Japan') as it's just sitting there unused. Everything works.
Professionally serviced by Brett at HEAR in Lewes and upgraded with tonearm rewired and modern power cable.
Smoke Grey lid has various light marks but no cracks.
    Lovely dark brown wooden plinth.
    Shure cart (new stylus required).
£280 collected from CR0 (or RH16, Sussex if I must).
    Not posting.

    Pics available on request.

  • Ah, my Dad had one of those when I was wee. I was always obsessed with it, but I was only allowed to use the tape player.

  • Sweet.
It's a lovely and very capable TT, however it's surplus to requirement so it might as well get enjoyed by someone else.

  • I quite like the HomePod mini. I've got one upstairs for background listening, and then a stereo pair in the shed for when I want to be anti-social and crank up the volume a bit when the wife has gone to bed.

A single is 'ok' for background listening, whereas a stereo pair actually sound quite nice.

  • I have a feeling I’ll buy a new HomePod for downstairs (the big one) and move the one downstairs to upstairs.

  • Stereo pair and tv was a good thing when I did it

  • Big price drops on Audioquest Dragonfly DACS. Worth getting the dragonfly colbalt over a Schiit Modi DAC? Portability not really required. Mac —> Amp

  • Related question… Do the current version work with iPhones without an additional power source?

  • Hoping someone might have the answer to what is probably a simple question.

I recently bought a pair of ruark mr1 speakers that I'm very happy with.

I've connected up a turntable via a pre-amp. Turntable is an old project debut ii that has an earth wire. In the past I've earthed to an amp but that's now out of the set up.

How do I earth the turntable - I don't think I can earth to the speakers or pre-amp?
