Personal favourites are Beyer 770 Pros, come in a range of impedances.

I DJ with one of these, awesome. I think the totally tinny compression really helps when there's loads of dynamic shiznit going on all around.

Another for the Sennheisers; great sound, tough and comfortable.

My mum has the A5. Sounds beautiful, however I have the Zeppelin and think it packs a bit more of a punch.

I inherited (looking after while's he's away) a Sonos recently. I can't get the bl00dy thing to work. I feel like my dad grappling with his first wifi router. *confused

Is the cable or the unit that has issue? Soldering rca plugs is v fiddly, esp old ones.

Headphones - talk to me.
I don't want anything open, I want to be able to Mix with them, but also for out and about, so no crazy bass, I want high quality sound but not completely flat.
Why not flat? If you are looking to do location recording, mixing, etc. you want a flat response to be able to "fix things" on time.
I have been considering:
Mad Dogs Pro
AKG 500
BeyerDynamic Custom One ProAnyone know these, or any better ones they'd recommend? Happy to spend around £200, and I don't want to have to use a headphone amp.
My favorite headphones to "take along" are the Beyer DT-48e phones. Extremely robust they are also rebuildable. Sound quality, I think, rivals the T1. The DT48 was, however, discontinued last year due to input supply chain problems (some materials were, they claim, no longer available) and replaced by Tesla models. I recently did an A/B with a friend of some of my DT48s (older and new models with different pads) against his DT-770s. Guess who is looking for new phones? Other popular monitor phones are the Sony MDR-7505 and Sennheiser HD25. The Sony "tuned" with Beyer DT280 earpads is probably one of the most popular choices these days.
DJ aps? Don't care about closed.. My favorite oddball is the Beyer DT49--- from the days when record bars thrived.
Amp? As "walkman" I sometimes use an older DT48 with the old style rubber pads (still alive in Audiometric environments) on my cellphone..

eliminate speaker cables by wireless transmitting the signal.
does such a thing exist?
I'd like to set up a pair of speakers in the kitchen, but can't be arsed to run cables through two walls and a hallway. -

like bikes s+1 is the magic number, where s=number of stereo's
some guy has some nice looking bits going cheap abovefor the price of the gadgetry you could;d have a nice little system

let me elaborate a bit.
we only ever listen to vinyl records and I don't want to have those in our very small kitchen.
I'm not interested in streaming digital audio from a computer or smartphone.I was dreaming of a unit that plugs into the amps speaker terminals and transforms that signal to radio waves and a unit in the other end to connect the kitchen speakers to.
I once had a pair of wireless headphones that worked that way. they were cool.

There are loads of solutions. My favorite is to use active speakers and a wireless link (1.5v line). Alto sell a product called "Stealth" that is nice.. There is also a really cheap solution from Tranz... but pretty much any wireless microphone bridge and pre-amp could be made to do the trick... i

It might be quite nice to use as a player at home, but to me it seems rather pointless for mobile listening due to the other constraints which affect our quality of listening.
If it has a high quality DAC then it could sound excellent.

There's more discussion upthread about this
Bet a fair chunk of that money is from people that would by anything even vaguely related to neil young
I use these too. For recording stuff, and at home, I use Beyer DT150s.
