I mean the red and white phono cables packed on boxes with amps/cd players (does anyone use those anymore)/ etc
I have these which you can have for the princely sum of free, if they’re any use to you?

I just had a flashback to writing a feature on this. Looks like I thought expensive cables were a waste.

Would any be interested in a Garrard 301 turntable? I'm still hunting for a specific amp, and I've seen one for sale along with the turntable... Could split.

I've got some - just assumed you did too. Want me to drop some off?

Anyone looking to shift a suitable active sub to go with my Ruark MR1 Mk2 speakers?

That would be great.

Nice article. Not a million miles from the conclusions anyone without hundreds/thousands of pounds invested in expensive cables, or who isn’t a purveyor of expensive cables, might reach.

What should I buy to stream from Tidal on my iphone to my old amp with phono/rca inputs?
Looks like I’ll get better quality from Airplay than Bluetooth, right?

I've bought a large box of cassettes (remember those) back from Oz and I want to make them digital (ie. record them to mp3).
I need a cassette deck that I can plug into PC.
Any suggestions?

I’m going to do the same for some old rave tapepacks I can’t find online. Just going to use my kid’s little stereo and record via the line in using Audacity.
Sony CFDS70B.CEK Classic CD and Tape Boombox with Radio - Black https://amzn.eu/d/hkxPKPX
I’ve seen some no-name equipment on Amazon that has USB and looks to come with its own software, but that’s probably shit. Cheaper option, though, more compact and you could still use Audacity - but I’d use with a DC power supply so you’re not doing it with batteries.
DIGITNOW! Cassette Player – Portable Walkman Tape to MP3 CD Converter – Captures Audio Music Stereo Player via USB, Compatible with Laptop and Personal Computers, with 3.5MM Jack Earphone https://amzn.eu/d/cUB0Prp
There’s probably a much more audiophile option with a high quality cassette separates deck that has better output.
Teac W-1200-B W-1200(B) Double Cassette Deck (Recording/Playback, Microphone Input, USB Output for Digital Recording to PC/Mac, Conference Transcripts) Black, 14.5 cm*43.5 cm*28.58 cm https://amzn.eu/d/2SjGDbI

Thanks, I used to be pretty familiar with Audacity for sample chopping/editing, probably used it to do few tapes I got around to in Oz. This part of the process isn't the issue.
Re: tape deck, I'd rather not buy a new "thing". I was thinking of buying a used hifi tape deck, something flash but old and now cheap. Wasn't someone on here selling old hifi bits?

Dazaa i think, but that thread has been dormant for a while.

think his videos are a bit snobby but I actually bought his speakers, they're really good, and I certainly dont have much (or any?) crossover in music taste with him (punk/metal/hardcore) but he certainly knows how to make a good speaker!

Bit late to the party for that. Tape decks have been desirable for some time especially flash but old ones.
I bought a boombox in the 90's from a boot fair for £5. They sell for £700+ these days. Nakamichi Dragon are selling for £2k -> £5k.

Serious? Dafuq is wrong with people?

He just thinks he's made the best decision in the world through reasoned argument when in fact he's picked a decent option from a list of decent options.
Good news that he makes good speakers though.

I've been thinking about getting a sub as my Harbeth's lack a bit of lower range. Before I join Alice down the rabbit hole, any tips for selecting a sub?
Are two better than one? Do I also need DSP and a calibrated microphone?
I've heard good things about REL, and they recommend the 7tx - which doesn't suggest it needs a DSP for successful set-up

MONSTER CABLES or GTFO!

Depending on room size but 1 should be enough for normal domestic London rooms.
A calibrated microphone and REW can help to set it up, working out positioning and crossover.
DSP is where you're heading in todays market. It's not a bad destination.
What you should look for in a sub is a rigid cabinet.

Is it an one or a new one, and how complete is it? Do you have any pics?
PM me how much you might be looking for if you don’t want to say here. I really don’t want to be interested in this but I’ve got an old-style RIAA that needs a classic record deck on it, lol.
Only copper ain't it.....😁
