  • I am pretty sure my kids caused me to lose my high frequency hearing, as well as trashing some of my favourite 12” singles when one of them undid the childproof catch on the cupboard.

  • Out of phase? though usually takes the body out the sound

  • Ha, funnily enough I do have hearing loss, but if I play the same music out of the TV using Spotify then it sounds "clearer", "brighter", and the full range is there. Obviously it doesn't sound as good as this setup used to, but it provides a comparison.

  • Ah, that takes your question way beyond my limited knowledge.

  • sorry if it's too obvious but are both tweeters definitely working?

  • Missing jumper connection?

  • I'm very ashamed to admit they weren't in properly in either speaker. Not sure wtf I was doing, probably sleep deprived when I set them back up and I just never bothered checking until you suggested it.

  • Thank you. Wife is out, boy is in bed, and I'm sitting on the sofa enjoying music again.

  • Hi-fi help needed.
I have a set of Airpulse A300 active speakers. BK Sub and a Helix Ultra DSP. All needs integrating. I also have UMIK-2
    USB Reference Measurement Microphone.
    Based in Brighton.

  • Do you need someone to come round and do it or advice on software that can help you DIY?

Because it reads a bit like a niche gumtree ad at the moment.

  • Home help. I check gumtree. Ta.

  • Ah, sorry. That’s a joke?
“Because it reads a bit like a niche gumtree ad at the moment.“
I don’t think it’s especially complicated. However a little above my pay grade 😁

  • You might find someone on here, I was joking about Gumtree.

It's worth learning and the software is free. REW

Once you've learnt to do it you can make changes or just spend that bit longer getting a good result in your own time.

  • Yeah I know….I don’t want to 🙃
I want to come to a mutually agreeable arrangement with someone who can. 🙏

  • If you find someone local who has a clue it might help to get you up and running but the basics are :-

Get your mic working in REW, chose the listening spot to calibrate.
Calibrate the volume using an iphone to get roughly the right db's
Record (with REW) a frequency sweep generated by REW.
Look at results and adjust crossovers/eq and repeat until you get a fairly flat response.

When I first got the kit it took months of experimentation to position the speakers because you learn a lot about room nodes and reflections.

  • I want to hurt myself….

  • Fair enough, sometimes that's just how it is. Hope you find someone. I'm not near enough to Brighton to offer.

  • Like I said, niche :)

  • Good. Where you based? Already answered 🙏

  • Based in London.

  • For anyone who tried Roon but wanted a mobile app to use with it. Roon have come with an mobile app.

  • I don't suppose anyone's got a half decent turntable or bookshelf speakers they're looking to move on? Cheers

  • I have some Cyrus CLS70 speakers but they are on the dedicated tripod stands so not really bookshelf.

  • Have some Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 in black, quite a few scrapes and scratches but sound fine.
