Cycle Sports - Best Spectator Events

Which cycle sports are the best for spectators? In terms of spectacle and possibly getting close to the action, and feeling the exhilaration.

Cyclocross.

It's fast, muddy, furious, exciting, and generally is a little cold which helps as you'll need some alcohol to help watch it :)

Downhill skisloping when they used to have it on Winter X.

This french chick would always win, pink mohawk, Legion of Doom pads, and they'd all have 3 inch nails driven through their tyres just to get grip; it put the ARRGGHHHH into Gnar for sure.

Vb, is it too late to add CycloCross? I'd forgotten that, and now is its season.

Cyclocross isn't even an option.

And where's BMX?

BMX racing beats all of the above for excitement, speed, high flying jumps, close quarters battling for the lead, spectacular crashes.

Plus with Bmx racing you can see the whole track real clearly, which adds to the drama of a closely fought race I think.

Track is better than BMX. 4X is better than BMX. BMX is better than road. Road is better than TT (unless it's bmmf in a hillclimb :-*).

4X is great to watch, but with DH I think it depends largely on the course, if you can see the whole course from one position then it can be pretty exciting, but a lot of the courses you may only be able to watch from one part and see a small section of it, which is not as fun as a spectator.

I think it depends what you're into, I have no interest in XC but some people might like to watch it just because they do it themselves, most mountain bikers would not want to watch any road racing as it's "gay" some people just think BMX is silly little kids bikes and the races are too short.

Whatever floats your boat, personally I like BMX, 4x/DS and track cos it's what I've done, therefore I wouldn't vote for cyclocross because it's incredibly bent

What's more exhilerating? Seeing someone fly 100 feet through the air and eat shit all over the place on landing, or someone trackstanding holding a metal stick with a bit of tubing on the end?
