Mark, you still got that Thomson stem? Gonna need one for my Steamroller.
-
• #56
You bought a Steamroller?
-
• #57
Yep, should be with me next week some time. There's a Chris King headset on ebay at the moment I'm keeping an eye on. Sorely tempted. At £41.00 to go but doesn't end til 9pm - might be a bit bling, on the other hand maybe I'll just go all out and build a hip-hop slave-roller..

Doesn't a steam roller have a 1" steerer tube? Nah aint got the stem no more. Wish I did. Sold it on ebay for 45 nuggets. The cunt sent me his old address 150 miles away. Anyway, long story short, ebay took the money out of paypal, then closed the case. Since then I have found out that they have released the money back to me, but what a cunt!

Sparky: Or, easier, I could give you £5. And buy you a pint.
Mark: Nah, 1 1/8". I checked. Just then.
Glad you got the money back for the stem in the end. I could probably do with a 90mm one anyway, I've got 110 or 120 on the Ribble and am a bit stretched out.
As I've got to replace cranks anyway and Sugino RD2's seem to be pretty expensive for what they are, thinking about getting XD2 cranks, Surly stainless chainring & sprocket - which would be 3/32nd. What's the advantages of 1/8th over 3/32nd pitch chains?

I'd be up for doing the Newmarket Road - Hospital - Mousehold circuit & then hitting a pub, Thorpe Road Coach & Horses maybe?

+1
Friday?
-
• #66
Does that +1 mean I have to buy you 2 pints?
Yes yes. It's going to be cold, but if we do a quick lap of the city we won't feel it too much. 8.30 at the forum? Give us plenty of time to get round and then have a good few bevs afterwards.

• #67
Nope, +1 as in I agree.

Hahaaha. 1/8" is wider gaps in the links and often thicker plates. The main thing you need to look for on a fixed gear chain is that the pins stick out quite a lot. If they are flush, they prove to be less strong. Oh and 3/32" are lighter. I would stick with 1/8 personally (bmx standard).

I run 1/8 on the Fuji. Thinner chains still need to take the stress of pedaling forward on geared bikes, so they're plenty strong enough, and they're lighter. 1/8 just makes me feel macho. Grrr.

Nice one on the steamroller mate, I very nearly bought one recently.

p.s.
I've still got the old enfield for sale, would make a brilliant beater/polo bike I just haven't got the time to put together another bike at the moment.
Would only want like £10-15 and I'll drop it off in the city as well. Can always strip it down to frame only too if thats all you want.Would suit a rider just under 6ft

It would probably make a good restoration project as well if no one wanted to convert it.
First one sold to Sam91 for $15. Steel shaft, long grip, 36" length, grey 5" long head with 6 holes bored out of it. Nice bit of kit. Will get him to send me a picture and will post it on the NVS POLO FORUM!
