Portal wasn't created when I last played HL
-
• #7428
Had been when I played it. My first go on HL1 was the Source version that was bundl with HL2. It takes me so long to finish games that Portal was out by the time I finished HL1

Spoiler
What firing RPGs into the brain of a giant baby is not an ending? (At least that's how HL1 ended)
As said above, it's only the first half. They hadn't done the rest yet, and the link Ed posted suggests that they are taking out the Xen stuff and turning it into a standalone game.

Surely the next bit will be the third quarter, then they will release the first half of the last quarter, then the penultimate sixteenth...

Disappointed at the lack of an ending,

BQ will be infinitely disappointed
(I expected something similar with the movie Never-ending Story but was disappointed)

They will release it some time after episode 3.
We will all be reading London fixed and single speed hover board forum by then.

Just started far cry 3. Enjoying it. Have I missed anything not playing 1 or 2? I got all three in that silly cheap game stop fuck up.

Original Far Cry is great, 2 is marmite (IMHO).
I liked 3 as it remind me of 1 but with some useful feature of 2.

Antichamber.
Great game

Ni No Kuni is amazing. Reminds me of Final fantasy VII when i first started playing that, but with added monster hunter/pokémon elements. Must buy for jrpg fans

Not really.
1 is a rather jolly thing and you can see the seeds of 3 in it before it goes a bit mutagen mental. Be careful which version you're using - if it's an up-to-date patched version you'll need to get an unofficial patch to sort out a few bugs (they fiddled with the bullet penetration with the unintented side-effect that enemies can see you through canvas, which makes sneaking through some of the middle bits rather tricky).
2 is hard and tedious, but because I'm made of stern stuff I'm currently plodding through it while being quite aware that I'm not having any fun.
3 is the most polished of the lot, and I hugely enjoyed it. But by the time you've levelled up enough to get the most benefit from things there's nothing left to kill. I got approx 30 hours out of it before boredom set in though, so I'd chart that as pretty fair. -

^ Those comments about 3 are right on the money. It seems like such a shame that after finishing the game you're left with this amazing sandbox environment, but nothing much to do in it.
Hopefully for the PC version there's at least a chance that mods might make it worth a second play through.

Exactly my sentiment, I was careful on choosing the perk, and when I finally got them all, the advantage of such perk suddenly now seemed redundant when there's nothing left in the island of Rook.
If anyone playing Farcry 3, make sure you get all the perk (it's possible), and the games will become so much easier, especially the Takedown skill which I immersibly enjoyed.

.^Tru-gamer 6pt.
2 is not fun nor is it meant to be. It is a game of endurance and frustration. Like life really. Often considered one of the best games ever made. -

Great portmanteau word Ed!

Often considered one of the best games ever made. There's a review-of-sorts out there called something along the lines of 'my one life in far cry 2'. which is what it says on the tin. When he died, he was out.
Highlights the 'war is terrible, being in the middle of it is shit. Good luck trying to survive, attempts are futile.' attitude that FC2 *almost *manages to push. -

And of course there are game speed-runs.
you'd be great at that! -

Which brings me nicely on to....

Anyway, I've got HW2 running and SupCom on the side so I'm on a RTS nostalgia trip at the moment.
(Because amazon still haven't delivered my Battlefield 3 so I can go flying choppers with OSR) -

I'm a gamer for life... but that honestly just makes me cringe.
No, it ends as you jump into the big portal.
