But not long until steam is released for mac!

Yup! Can't wait to play TF2.

  • I completed Bioshock yesterday, onwards to number 2. Did anyone else find the final fight really easy? I was a bit disappointed to be honest.

I haven't played it, but it sounds as if it comes as a bit of a shock.

  • You didn't strike me as a video game person oliver...

I don't play them very much any more. I used to play a lot of computer games, but I was always more of a fan of blocky graphics than smooth graphics, and a lot of modern games are just databases with a GUI. My favourite games are things like Boulder Dash, Jet Set Willy, Gauntlet, ZZT, Faery Tale Adventure, Civilization, Railroad Tycoon, Dune 2--old stuff. Like everyone, I played Doom for a bit, but I can't say it was ever a favourite.

The only games I've played more than casually since 1997 or so are Diablo II, Civilization III, and Morrowind. That's one of each of the major types, and I don't really need more. I haven't played HL2 much, although I will play Episode 3.

I really only play computer games when I can't play boardgames, which I like much more (http://www.lfgss.com/thread32845.html).

  • the story build up the climate a lots, until you reach to the final boss which appear to be very insignificant in comparison.

still an excellent games though, if you Half Life Oliver, you'll love Bioshock.

  • Thanks, Ed, but I deliberately limit my computer gaming. Not enough time in the day!

  • So I'm ploughing through MW2 and Assassin's Creed2 isn't getting a look in. I did the first few bits and bobs, and it's much better than AC1. MW2 I'm finding a lot easier, and the story is just about keeping me interested (oh look, a missile launch. Again)

Splosion man is AWESOME! The demo is brilliant, anyway. Thanks for that recommendation! Two player with my wife was a disaster though, for some reasons she is simply terrible. Will look at Braid. Will probably end up buying a freaking wii.

  • It's all about Resident Evil 5 on coop to be honest. Absolutely set on perfect completion. Anyone remember the mountain biking game on the PS2? I think it was like Downhill Derby or Domination. I think it was domination come to thing of it.

Every played Baldur's Gate? If you like a bit of RPG as well I can imagine you'd be into the game.

  • I've always avoided games like that precisely because they're such time drains! :)

  • just picked up bad company 2 yesterday, love the dig at the cod mw2 people who use the heartbeat sensors in the cut scene in the singleplayer at the end of snowblind...

if anyone wants to squad up, m gamertag is codlikegenius

  • ^ How does it compare to COD:MW2? Have heard that its just as good if not better...

  • I've completed bad company 2, it's OK, nowhere near as good as MW2. The gameplay is good, but very little variation, very poor plot, and the cut scenes are sooo shit

  • multiplayer is different. More about teamwork and a bit less run around bam bam than cod is. Also have vehicles which is nice.

control wise, it is not as fluid as cod imho, but it certainly offers something new in the multiplayer. If i had the choice between one or tother i would go CoD. However, if you are a bit bored with Cod multiplayer and want a new challenge it could be for you.

  • The main difference between the two games is TEAMWORK.

In COD you can easily take on a whole team by yourself and win. Whereas on BF you have to work as a team; medics, recon, engineers, assault. They all play their part. The only shame with BC2 is there isn't as many guns as MW2, if it did have it would top it to be honest.

  • Battlefield is all about the multiplayer to be honest, Bad Company 1 & 2 are the first in the series to even offer a singleplayer campaign. I don't think I bothered to even finish it before jumping into the multiplayer, that's where the real game lies!

  • Titchmarsh having a pop at video games on his TV program.
The C&VG guy actually does a much better job than most at arguing the side of the games industry...

  • Jesus, I think my head's going to explode.

  • I love it when people who dont have a clue get involved... not so much.

  • That woman is a complete fucking mong.

  • Games are a complete waste of time, albeit an entertaining one. Other than addictive entertainment, games serve no purpose what-so-ever.
    Electronic drugs.

The argument where games induce violence is offensive to me at-least. I mean how stupid does these people take gamers to be ? i know the difference between a real person and a on screen character which i shoot in the face with a noob cannon.
I know what it is however and that's a massive generation gap, a complete misunderstanding of what the media is in the first place.

  • I'd say that games being entertainment means they serve a very important purpose.

  • I'd say that games being entertainment means they serve a very important purpose.

not when your addicted, not for children when they could be spending time doing better things, even as adults there are better things than games, like reading books, far better for you.
Games just hit the sweet spot, in terms of enjoyment, but you come away from them with virtually nothing gained other than an experience, which you'll quickly forget and aim to replenish with a new gaming experience and on and on it goes.

  • love the way alan pronounces the names. n00b. and that woman should be shot.
