  • Ah I thought that was why, thanks for that. I'll probably hold of for a while then!

  • Anyone been to game/station for the fire sale bargains ?
Apparently all the pre owned shiz is going for cheaps, well stuff that is over a year old

  • Currently wondering why, after so much initial enthusiasm, I've lost any interest in completing Skyrim, Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas...

I'll await Eds answers on where I've gone wrong with Fallout, but Skyrim? Bored shitless at about 90 complete...

  • I think the initial "omygodthisisthebestthingthat'severhappened" moment comes on gauging the expanse of explorable land.

In your mind, you kid yourself that there's a whole planet to wander through out there. Of course, the reality is it's just half an hour of running in a straight line before you hit a cliff and every single dungeon in the area is identical.

Devs basically fool us into thinking they've created something huge and special. The reality is they've created something tiny and OK.

  • Apart from GTA now that game is awesome and I hope the new one won't disappoint.

    You're doing it wrong.

  • I lost it with Skyrim when I started getting bossed around by a dog that sounded like a children's TV character - the whole thing just feels like a chore now.

Someone at work has leant me Assassins Creed 2 &3 though, so they should keep me going for a bit (just hope they're not as monotonous as the 1st one).

I agree - and I very much think it has something to do with Skyrim/Fallout coming from the same house. I had the same feeling with earlier Oblivion games - they dazzle to begin with and then just turn into a grind, but the grind isn't even fun because it's single player. MMORPGs can get away with it because you can grind with your mates (euph).

  • Exactly.

Also I bloody love GTA online - can't wait to see what they do with the new one.

May also give Red Dead a quick run this weekend haven't played it in yonks, could be fun.

1 was a pain... 2 was good, 3 was too much of the same as 2.

Maybe just play 3. (might be bad advice)

  • I forced myself to take skyrim out , and play Arkham City, not played skyrim since.

  • ^^^ I picked Red Dead up on a whim and it turned out to be one of my all-time favourite games.

I'm working through the Mass Effect series now. Finished the original and started 2 last night.

  • Good thinking, must play Red Dead again, such an excellent games.

I don't think I've played a games that felt quite like being in a movie.

  • Wish it had a PC release :(

  • I fear I may never go back into Skyrim......

Is Mass Effect 3 playable without knowing the back story?

  • Red Dead zombies is quite good fun too.

Still haven't compelted the single player zombie bit yet, think theres a bug I can't get away from the first area.

I'd have thought so, but I would recommend playing the other 2. More so the second one though. The first is much more RPG.

  • Oh, I went to game for the clear out sale, got Resi 5 gold edition for a fiver, Vancouver 2010 for 98p and Borderlands for 3£.

Going to gamestation at lunch to see their bargs.

  • I played half of 1 & 2... 3 seems to explain things fine.

You just pick your past when you start.

  • If you do play the earlier ones, don't play any of 2 before you hit 1. The first is much less polished than than the second and it annoyed me a bit having played 2 already (I guess that's just its age showing though).

    I'd say play 2 though - it's a good game.

  • Yeah. ME1 felt really dated to me.

  • PS3 is now in my possession but I can't open it until my family surprise me with it at the end of the month.

Open it, play on it when they're asleep, put it back when you go to bed. Repeat each night.

  • It's my olds and other assorted immediate family and they aren't coming over to London till the end of the month. Mrs_com has orchestrated the whole thing. I don't trust myself to put is back in the box well enough.

  • Managed to do it with a christmas ps2 once... so frightening opening the tape each time.
