Generals is nowhere near as good as I remember. Really arcadey and you can't zoom out far enough. SupCom you have spoilt meeee. Maybe time to load up Homeworld 2 again. Ahh digital comfort blankets.

Excellent description of video games to be frank.

What was the other games that's quite like Command and Conquerer but set in 1940's?

Pretty sure it's not the one you're thinking of Ed, but you did just remind me of this:

^^Counter Action? I mentioned it here the other week.
Old, rubbish, but fun.I tried to figure out a way to run it on a modern PC but it was having none of it.

I remember it was along the name of C&C but appear to be more WWII theme (modern too rather than 80's).

y'know I think it might've been that after reading the description, the most I remembered was being parachuted in France and leading a group of Yanks across enemy territories.

Yep that was red alert 2!
Love, love love that game, It's over at my parents though so I'll have to play Generals tonight. Or the sims hmmm.

Think you're right, somehow playing Starcraft 2 made what I remembered appear much more detailed.

Was there any resource management? Sounds very similar to a mission in Soldiers: Heroes of World War 2 which I found to be a bit more like an out an out battle version of the Commandos series. Both good fun, Soldiers was more serious/less cartoony.

I have a loose heel on my shoe. When I stand on it it sounds like one of the skeletons in Skyrim.

you have a wife ? I've heard about these fable creatures
I hear you can find them if you play Skyrim.

DOS Box?
Shall have another try - used similar emulators but with no luck. It wasn't great. It was, even then, buggy, clunky, and spectacularly racist. But it was the first game I ever bought. I paid 14.99 in the Southampton Bargate branch of Game in 199...9? The 13 year old me bloody loved it. -

Colleague just dropped three grand on a gaming rig last night. Wife's gonna kill him when she finds out.
How the hell did he manage to spend 3k? I spent half that upgrading my PC over 12 months ago and still haven't found anything that comes close to seriously taxing it.

He's going to send me the specs at some stage. When he calms down I presume.
Originally I believe it was 3100gbp and he was just fiddling around with an online configuration thing trying to see what would be the most expensive, with no intention of buying. Then a rep from the company phoned him and said, don't get this, it'll overheat/it's not a good combination of parts/you won't see the benefit. so he talked him down to 2800 - which he paid for in an impulse buy. The case was 300 quid. Go figure.

My sisters ex spent about 2.5k on his water cooled, coloured lights, something something anti-aliasing (no idea what this means) gaming pc + 30inch hd monitor so he could play crysis1 and a further 4k on the chair and driving simulator you had to strap yourself into. She kicked him out for it.
I know pc gaming looks better, but I still prefer a console and tv for simplicity and cost. -

Assassin's Creed III: American Civil War
What the hell o___O??? -

^What next?
Assassins Creed V War on Terror?
Fucking hell you'd be mad to spend that much on a rig. I spent about £800 last year and have been blown away by it, bloody love my PC though. Wife didn't know how much it cost me either.
She doesn't care though so long as she can play the sims!
