I think one of the best things that from games have given to gaming is showing how making content more missable can make it more interesting and special. The influence of this in other GOTY like Breath of the Wild and Baldurs Gate 3 is super palpable.

Anyone who has played Dark Souls Artorias of the Abyss DLC will know the pain of even finding access to the new area, let alone playing it.
Miyazaki / From seem to enjoy making misery a mechanic -

Been really enjoying GBA Advance Wars on the Anbernic. Really engrossing, satisfying turn-based strategy.

Also quite up for this which APPEARS to forgo microtransactions and just have the OG 'complete tasks to get stuff' philosphy:

I'm an idiot so I've started a new elden ring character for the dlc
Did the same, mainly to get the ranni Age of Stars ending though (last achievement)
All I've done in the DLC so far is step foot inside then scurry back to the lands between to continue collecting shit/beating bosses that I've done previously lol.
Melania currently kicking my ass as per usual.
Once I've completed this run I'll delve in to DLC proper

If you haven’t played Animal Well yet - please do.
These one man team game creators are blowing my mind.

It reviews well. Sounds unique. And on Switch.
Why do you particularly like it?
Thanks though, will check out.

it's free on ps plus or whatever it's called as well.
so is dredge if anyone's not got around to that yet too.

Just replaced the left stick on my Switch Lite (not sure if down to age, dodgy stick, or grubby mitted child using it), but was pleasantly surprised at how straightforward the whole process was. Right stick replacement looks a fair bit more involved so thankfully didn't have to bother with that one.

Any smaller controllers that will work with the ps5?
6yr old is about the right age to start playing in the next year or so. Thanks -
• #29438
Sony have made this difficult. They did make a mini wired gamepad for the PS4, but not for the PS5. You can use PS4 controllers on the PS5 but only for PS4 games.

Tried to replace micro sd reader a few months ago and fairly straightforward until it came to putting it back together. I wanted to test it worked before screwing it together so tried with the back of the case off - worked fine, back case on, nope. Hmm. Case off, fine, case back on again, nope. Tried a few more times. Got bored. Gave up. Will prob just wait it out for next year.

Is having the case on pushing a cable and causing it to short somewhere? I had that with the last guitar pedal I made which took me a while to work out.
-
• #29441
Is that on the full-sized one? Looks like the Lite ones are soldered straight onto the motherboard, but the full-sized one looks like a relatively trivial affair. Only thing I can see is that the issue is that there looks to be a small piece of foam that rests against the case when closed. Not sure if that could be causing the connector to come loose?
-
• #29442
Possibly shorting but think most likely it's related to the foam pad in that video. You'll note that around 2:26 he's struggling to connect the new part (you need to pre-bend that bit of flexi board so it sits neatly which it doesn't show him doing) and then the video actually just cuts 'some time later' and it's already fitted.
I might give it another go though. It's a faff uninstalling everything to make space.

Having just got over my Civ6 addiction on Xbox (it's good), found out Parkitecht is coming out on Xbox today!
As a long time RCT fan, I've heard good things about this one.

I tried replacing the stick on mine. The replacement went OK, but fuckwit fingers over here snapped the surface soldered connection to the battery when I was putting it back together.
It still works when connected to the switch, but not a hope in hell otherwise.

That's frustrating, guessing that was a right-stick replacement? Definitely looked a fair bit more involved than the left stick one. Thankfully I was lucky that the easier to replace one gave out.

Dungeon Clawler is great!

Just started Robin Hood - Sherwood Builders on Games pass.
Only played the first couple of missions, but its quite fun so far. Not got into any of the building yet, just hunting deer

Completed Alan Wake 2 yesterday, think I put in around 30 odd hours into it as I was grinding to get achievements for findings all the cult stashes, and nursery rhythms.
Enjoyed the game, though it was difficult/frustrating at times, and as to what the story was about I will have to read up on that!
I will not be purchasing the first DLC at £15, so back to Tomb Raider 2 remastered for me.

After getting the Fallout 4 platinum trophy on PS5 and getting a little fatigued with it all, I have fired up Cat Quest.
fun little RPG were you are a civilisation of cats, and you go on various quests.
Cutesy, short, surprisingly difficult in places until you unlock certain weapons or abilities.
Will certainly fire up CQ2 when I finish this one(free on the expensive ps+ library)

I wouldn't bother, it's three short stories. They're fun and different, but still. I got them with the ultimate version or whatever it was I bought as a massive Alan wake fan.
I've been playing Control again, remedy really know how to create an atmosphere, and build a world around it.
I love how From Software decided to limit the ER DLC to those that can beat a certain Mohg excluding 66% of those who bought ER. Boss move.
