I've been living under a rock. Only just found out that Skate 4 was announced after watching reviews of THPS1+2. Holy shit!

Its so good. Weirdly the thing I've been most impressed with so far has been the shoe models...

I managed a full hour on it yesterday. Amazing how much I’ve forgotten but also how much I’ve remembered.

As a young'un I started from THPS2, commensurately, when I re 100%ed them all on an emulator semi-recently, I started from 2. Having a ball doing the levels from the first game and genuinely having to discover gaps/goals etc. The levels from 1 play lovelily with revert etc mechanics though!

yup, really excited about this.
have been working my way through RE2 remake recently - so good but the boss fights are utter pish. would love an RE remake in this engine

I have thps on download at the moment and honestly I can't wait to play it.
I used to play it a lot as a kid but THUG 1 was the game that really made the series for me.

They've really nailed the soundtrack as well.. good mix of memory joggers and contemporary stuff. Menus even feel 'right' although there's a lot of faff.

Built a record collection off the THPS soundtracks.

First time No Cigar by Millencollin and Public Enemy/Anthrax played I was immediately transported back to my childhood bedroom.

Have you checked out SkaterXL or Session? Both pretty awesome alternatives to the Skate series (with varying levels of increased realism) and I'm fairly confident the traction they were gaining was the trigger for the Skate announcement
-
• #23145
I need to remind myself of sessions but skater XL’s lifeless environments and beta-feel are of no interest to me.
I will buy an Xbox if it's the only way I can play Skate 4.

To be honest I haven't played SkaterXL since trying Session, despite Session being in alpha while SkaterXL is officially released, Session definitely feels more polished. And at the moment as far as the Switch is concerned I'm a hell of a lot more likely to pick up THPS over skaterXL

• #23147
Yeah, I might grab an Xbox controller for
My PC and get THPS. In the mean time I’m downloading a ps3 emulator and Skate 3 because it’s one of my favourite games of all time. -

How long did it take you to pick up the controls on Session? I've got the trial downloaded. I've only managed to play for about 15 minutes but it seemed like a pretty steep learning curve!
-
• #23149
Honestly not that long, though I did pick it up after a few hours of SkaterXL which isn't a whole lot different so I assume that made the transition a bit easier. I think the last thing to click was the turning with the shoulder buttons, that was definitely the trickiest change for me. But yeah I'd say maybe an hour or two?

Will give it a go when I've got a bit more free time! I've spent far too many hours of my life playing the Skate games, would love something to fill the void until the next one comes out!
The combat is good, but repetitive once you get your head around it. Getting a bit bored of the story and really not played many hours.
