As a noob can someone confirm something for me.
https://www.techradar.com/uk/deals/cheapest-xbox-game-pass-deals-prices
If I buy 3 lots of a years worth of Xbox gold and then get an ultimate game pass this would give me 3 years worth of play for approx £120 for the gold passes and £36 for the ultimate conversion ?

If that’s still running, yes.
I converted three years of Xbox live into live / game pass last year. Cost me £1

So I just buy 3 x the one year gold pass? Seems too good to be true!

Yup.

I play games but I’m not into it like I used to be, my Son (13) however is obsessed. His birthday is coming up and his headset is looking worse for wear so I want to get him a new one. He mainly plays his xbox one but also his switch. He likes that his current headset is surround sound. I can spend up to £150. I’m looking at the SteelSeries Arctis 9X and the hyper cloud alpha are these any good or are there better alternatives?

Be aware that bluetooth headset support is crap on the switch. The only ones that work wirelessly are those with a USB dongle. See here for more info...

Quick look at the photos of the Arctis 9X on Amazon suggest it has a 3.5mm jack, but I've no idea if that's actually audio in/out.

SteelSeries are my favourite, they're so comfortable. For the Switch you can't use bluetooth headphones, so you can either get something like the SteelSeries Arctis 1 which uses wifi and has a little dongle that goes in the USB-C port as well as being able to use bluetooth for the xbox or just plugging a 3.5mm cable in.
Or you can get whatever bluetooth headset that will work with the xbox then get a 3.5mm bluetooth transmitter to use on the Switch, or again just plug in directly with a 3.5mm cable.

I guess he can just use his headphones he already has for the switch. He mainly plays his Xbox. I can get the steelseries for £143.99 from steelseries direct. Seems like a good price.

Grabbed some steelseries 9x. Hope they are a good improvement over his titanfall turtle beach ear force.

Did you then cancel the monthly ultimate subscription because the Live gold had been converted?

Late for the party, but finally got Resident Evil 2 Remake for Ps4.
Put it 5 hours tonight and must say it’s pretty amazing.
Got my heartbeat going quite a few times.Audio and lighting is pure perfection.
Playing it in dark with headphones is a must.

This made me laugh quite hysterically, because I have absolutely been this person hundreds of times over.

You shouldn’t need to do anything.
Check your subscription renewal date on you Microsoft account page. Should be some time in 2023...

Thimbleweed Park
Have you tried it yet? It's on sale on Steam as well. I'll pick up one, and wouldn't mind padding out my Switch library, but I'm skeptical of a point-and-click controls on a console (and I don't use the Switch in handheld mode that often).

Played 10 mins of it last night, picked it up on the basis of the Twin Peaks/X-Files vibe. Enjoying it so far. It's very, very self aware (possibly to the point of putting some people off).
You could always pick it up on Steam and get a refund before 2 hours of playtime to see if it floats your boat.
Remember the days when demos were the norm? Those were the days!
Naturally the controls aren't as well suited as a mouse, but it's as good as can be expected. The d-pads allows quick navigation around the actions which helps.

Thanks!
Not too worried about returning it at that price, and I'm fairly sure I'll get some enjoyment out of it (even if just LucasArts nostalgia). Just need to choose a platform... Maybe I'll get it on Switch and can save it for something to do while traveling.

I've basically abandoned playing on anything other than my Switch and Vita. As long as the performance is acceptable, I'd much rather be playing on handheld.
Also, something I hadn't even thought of until you mentioned controls, apparently you can use the Switch's touchscreen, as mentioned here: https://bagogames.com/thimbleweed-park-switch-review/
There really isn’t a better way to play Thimbleweed Park than with the port’s full touch screen capabilities. You tap the screen and hold. The game will show all available hotspots, which is a huge help when trying to figure out which objects are interactive. You can swipe with two fingers to skip dialog or Swipe with three and you can skip a cutscene. It’s fast and easy to select items and dialogue options using the touchscreen, and I stopped using the Switch controls early on.

Any recommendations for good adventurish puzzle type PC games?
Return of the Obra Dinn. Outstanding game. Also the first mystery game that ever presented me with a receipt at the end.

I actually have Obra Dinn and Papers Please. As amazing as they are, they feel just like admin to me after a couple of hours.
One game I really loved was Antichamber, and the graphics and "gameplay" of Obra Dinn reminded me a lot of that.
