  • So I finally bought God Of War. It's pretty hard innit? I've probably died over 20 times already and I've just done the part where the bridge breaks and you get surrounded.

  • tbf though that is probably one of the hardest fights I had, the whole chapter with with the elves is maddening at a low level. also there's areas in the game you can stumble into which you have no business in until you are much further in the game and levelled up, then you'll come back and turn everything to dust.

  • that game kinda just ended, which was a bit odd.

  • Metro Exodus is really good. Impressed with their take on the not actually an open world aspect.

Only real criticisms so far are the crap dialogue and voice acting, and the not very convincing AI.

  • It’s not open world? I keep meaning to play through the first games as I loved the books but PUBG keeps pulling me away.

  • Not strictly, no. Much more so than the previous games though.

You progress through it linearly by means of a train which travels between environments. Some of these are large enough to function as 'open world-ish' while you're there, but there's no going between them as you please.

  • I spent another 2 hours on the fight I was stuck on, really losing the will to continue this game so decided I must be missing something and googled a walkthough. In that video the enemies died waaay quicker than it was taking me, so I checked what difficulty I had it set on and of course it was on hard mode. Swap down to medium and they die in like 1/4 the damage.

  • Finally got a copy of RDR2. So far so good. I just have the urge to be a total bastard.

  • Only real criticisms so far are the crap dialogue and voice acting, and the not very convincing AI.

Sounds like a big part of a "story first fps"

  • I'm still smarting from this purchase. Not happy I spent so much money do I could get bored galloping everywhere. Meh...

    Come on the DIVISION!

  • Just finished god of war. Valkyrie queen was a bastard to finish off. There’s a couple of realm tears I haven’t done in Midgard which I’d like to find, and a couple of hidden chambers underneath water which I can’t seem to figure out how to get to.
Grinding through Niflheim to get enough mist echoes to close those realm tears can get in the sea.
Might replay with the HUD off to see how that feels, at some point in the future.
    Onto horizon zero dawn..

  • horizon zero dawn

Honestly the best PS4 game that I've played.

  • ^ This.

  • I've downgraded Metro Exodus's AI from 'not very convincing' to 'completely useless'. It's really frustrating that the environment creates so much atmosphere, which is totally destroyed when you end up in a firefight.

As soon as you lose line of sight with them, they appear to almost instantly forget where you were and just wander around shouting random stuff which is often not very relevant.

Still enjoying it a lot. Would be much worse if there was more emphasis on shooty stuff.

  • I have one other gripe about pretty much all games these days...

Contextual music which changes as soon as you eliminate the last immediate threat is really fucking annoying.

  • What console are you on?

  • i am playing MGSV and thusly keeping to my "don't spend more than 20 quid on a game" regimen. the sneaky peaky stuff is great, the base building noise not so much.

those africa missions - i can understand every word you assholes are saying don't think i can't hear you!

  • I have the complete edition with the frozen wilds expansion pack, so will see what happens when I get there.
Rightly or wrongly I’ve gone for a slightly harder setting, so will see how I get on.. if I’m going to be spending time with a game I’d like it to be a bit challenging.

  • After reading an article on the Bitmap Brothers yesterday I installed an Amiga emulator and had a few games of Speedball 2. Still a classic game.

  • Worth it, combat on Normal gets quite easy when you hit higher character levels.

  • spent many an hour repeatedly smashing the ball through the loops on the side to power up then destroying the goalkeeper. so much fun.

  • And perfecting the looping off the wall pass to the oppo keeper and timing an attack to connect just as they received it. Injuring them and scoring at the same time.

    Ice cream. Ice cream

  • It can feel a little hard at the beginning but you get stronger/better weapons quite quickly.
