My highest is Dota by a country mile (that's recorded anyway) prob around 1,000 hours, only like @Aroogah my time spent on D2 as a kid would have been very high. Also like @Sumo I've clocked endless hours on CS pre steam days.
Also this doesn't include any time spent on XBOX, just checked rockstar social and I'm around 300 hours on GTA online. That's probably my highest played xbox game.

I've also never played DOTA or Diablo series.
I don't know why I've avoided them but it's interesting that everyone I speak to about them has clocked a LOT of hours. Wonder what attributes make a game more compulsively playable than others?

The DayZ thread was worth it though... #neverforget
Think its still my most played game 855 hours.
PUBG 281.GTA V 64.
most others around 2-10.
Just bought a Vega card so I can play the Metro series in macOS though, which I am excited about.

I played 1.6, then CS:S came out in 2004, I played that religiously until 2008. I used to enter tournaments with my team, then the team disbanded because it turns out the guy that started it was a nonce and he went to jail. This is before eSports was a thing, I could be famous if Twitch had existed.

PUBG 281.
That explains why you're so lacking in duos.

Was gonna say - that many hours you'd likely be halfway decent.
Nonces, eh?

Diablo its the grinding, always chasing the higher loot.
For me with Dota it's the huge selection of characters so no 2 games are the same, with the new turbo mode they've added games are also over in 20-30 mins. There is also a lot of characters who work well together so you can easily/ skillfully outplay very tanky characters if you know what you're doing.
I can see why it's the biggest e sports game.

Can someone ELI5 what the Diablo ruckus was this week? It's a PC game with a committed PC fanbase and they wanted to make the next one mobile only? That about it?

1500 hours in D1/2 combined (Destiny), so you know what you're letting yourself in for potentially.
Oddly enough I bounced hard off DII because I spent so much time building a character I liked, only to find out that it would get insta-gibbed by almost anything in Torment difficulty. Just lost any real sense of momentum after that although I did dabble a bit in online. Was young enough that I just stopped playing rather than trying out a different build (and was before you got a re-spec item after clearing each difficulty)

^^ pretty much. if anything, it indicates a massive failure on behalf of bliz to understand their fanbase. the fact that it appears to be a re-skin of another rubbish mobile game isn't helping either. who the fuck wants to play an action RPG on a fucking phone anyway?

There has been no news about Diablo for years, the last "content" update for DIII was over a year ago, and the one before that was 3/4 years ago. Its a game that has divided fans, but still the majority of people like it.
Blizzard started leaking info that there would be Diablo news at Blizzcon (which is a $100 ticket, before you factor in travel/accommodation). People understandably got excited, and Blizzard tried to dampen down speculation (after they'd sold out their tickets ...), but didn't explicitly say what to expect.
The Diablo announcement was made at the end of Blizzcon, typically the most prestigious slot. They tried to imply that this is in addition to any team that might or might not be working on DIV, but that didn't go down well, and the fact that the company they teamed up with are a well know Chinese company who's bread-and-butter was making mobile Diablo/Warcraft clones lousy with microtransactions made people understandably disappointed.
The TL:DR is that it was a weak announcement that was made much much worse by miss-management of the hype leading up to it by Blizzard and the choice of when to announce it at the Con. People over-reacted but Blizzard should have done better and not given them that chance (IMO).

Big talk from the partner who's dead first most the time...
This weekend? Oh also free most of tomo (WFH and eve).

the problem is also Blizzcon. Pretty sure it's just not sustainable or achievable even for a behemoth like Blizzard to have a big ticket release announcement year on year. If there's no big announcement, just cancel your convention to avoid disappointment - then again the neckbeard LARPers would just get salty about that.

Only because you're hiding in a shed somewhere, refusing to come out when you hear gunfire.
'come and shoot these guys Chris, they're both low health, one's rezzing the other, they've no idea you're here'
'no my shed is cosy'Yeah tomorrow could be good and potentially evenings or later at the weekend?
Edit: i tried that nvidia thing while I was away the other day but it wouldn't let me install on multiple devices for some reason so no joy : ( Will see if I can link it up for next week as I'm away from Weds - Sat.

Started Destiny2 and it's a bit meh so far. Straight run and gun and not seeing any subtlety to gameplay or enemy variety. Feck knows how to supercharge or how to get grenades. Introduction to "how stuff works" is lacking. The named mini bosses is making me flashback to keyboard smashingly stupid endless boss respawn of Borderlands.
I had achingly built up some serious characters in DII before the days of the skills tree reset and deleted them (due to a lack of progress).....and then they released the tree reset. I built up some other ones and could never make any progress in Hell difficulty. All the enemies became immune to your two chosen elemental attacks. Playing solo I could never get enough good runes or any set items. I gave up and got sucked into Civilization III.

Ha, such a great combo of complete and under incompetence and youthful optimism... those were the day(z). My first ever go at "PC" gaming.
I actually gave it a go again last night, its very different and they are talking about 1.0 by end of year, but still no bikes, or helicopters, or loot... ran into 3 friendlies before being beaten to death by a couple of mute jokers who couldn't hit a barn door at 20 paces but my UI was bugged so I couldn't equip any weapon to fight back.

Oh god, I'd forgotten about Civ 2/III. Many a summer holiday day poured into those.
Destiny 2 is fun mechanically, has beautiful environmental and sound design and kinda average at best loot/encounter design. The first few missions you loose your powers but I think you should get them back by the third one, which will also be a mini-tutorial in how to use them IIRC. I definitely enjoy it more as a game to hang out with friends in, rather than a solo game. Its also one of the more literal definitions of watching the numbers go up

I am still doing Iorveths path in W2, should i rush it and go directly to W3 ?
Havent been playing Diablo3 so much... family and stuff, and the fact that i am paragon 250+ and thats like a kindergarden character compared with average 1000+ types that cross my path... the single player story is great, really liked it the 1st play -
