Downloading - cheers! I've put off dropping cash on Watchdogs 2 for the minute.

Or Bloodbourne (my new dark fave)
Woo! Great success :)

On wired network at home I get a solid 60fps at HD
How do you measure this? I'm on wired and pretty sure I'm not getting 60fps, but not sure of how you tell.

I ran a few games that either had a benchmark option or let you show the FPS in the corner.

Witcher 3 GOTY and DLC for £20.
I love/hate Steam sales...

Just bought Terraria. Bye world.

Just remembered yesterday that I gave my brother battlefield 4 on ps4 a couple of years back. Nicked it and am now caning it. Shame I've got 1.5mbps Internet, but when it works it's amazing. Constantly infuriated by aiming with a controller rather than mouse and keyboard, but slowly getting the hang of it.
Got bf1 for Xmas, so waiting for that to download a 4gb update and I'll see how that is online, single player is a bit underwhelming.

That's the FPS of the steam, not an indication of what you're actually getting on the TV.

Put it on a harder setting - TLOU on Grounded is one of the most horribly realistic gaming experiences I've ever had. When those running zombies hear you they literally run and never stop running until you kill them, and when there's two or three of them it's totally disorientating.

I really like the sound of that setting but it sounds simply masochistic, even the reviewers who love hardcore modes seem to find it a bit much

• #16437
Will be the best £20 you've ever spent
-

but it sounds simply masochistic.
Clearly you haven't played Fallout 4 on Survival!
-
• #16439
God damn that sounds good. Wish it wasn't ps exclusive.

Or dayz .61

• #16441
I'm loving battlefield 1....there is something very satisfying about finding a good hidey hole and sniping in hardcore conquest....until you get a shovel across the swede from behind...that makes you jump a bit!
-
• #16442
Yeah it is - it's the sort of thing you couldn't (and shouldn't) do on a first or second playthrough. But for people like me who think TLOU is the pinnacle of gamesmaking (and I really do, I think it's the best game ever made) it's a way of extending out the enjoyment. I've done it twice on Grounded difficulty now. It's an incredible experience.

I only went PS4 to get it (from Xbox 360). Worth it imo. But honestly, I'd enjoy it as much on a PS3 if you fancied a cheaper entryway. It's not about graphics at all, it's the atmosphere of the thing, the storytelling, the acting. Seriously, best game ever made.

lol I have about 90 hours on survival and I love it, feels like it's how the game should be
-
• #16445
Yeah I'm going to do my second playthrough (1st on hd) and reconsider, it sound like it deals with all the suspension of disbelief breaking moments that happen, running behind a box and hiding for 30 secs 'oh well guess he's disappeared' which were a double edged sword as I used to rely on these mechanics in a desperate situation but obviously the immersion was broken which is a shame in such an amazing game
-
• #16446
Totally agree. Some games it doesn't break the immersion - I don't mind it on more lighthearted games - but life or death games really need AI to be as hard as the world they live in, otherwise the atmosphere breaks.

• #16447
Hmm, could well be. Not sure how you'd test the end FPS then.
I've not seen any noticeable speed changes. I am on a wired network with a decent router though.

• #16448
play the objective you dick!
-
• #16449
I have 200 hours on Very Hard, which is starting to feel "normal" if you get what I mean, will try again in Survival right from the beginning.
I have a feeling I won't make it out of Sanctuary Hill.

From the Steam Link settings menu, choose In-Home Streaming. Then Advanced Client Options and turn on Display performance information. That should give you the FPS of the stream, and pressing Start+Y on the controller (triangle if PS3/4) will show more detailed info.
I typically get 1ms input (from link to PC) and 10-20ms back the other way. Stream tends to be ~30Mb. Works really well in all but the fastest games.
Hare the Steam Controller tho, that haptic pad is a shit alternative to a second stick.
Anyone play Europa Universalis? Is there a steep learning curve? Are games super long? It's on sale, but worried I won't have time to really get into it. I can't even manage a game of Civilization anymore.
