New nvidia drivers + beta patch 1.2 have made Dishonored 2 excellent. Solid 60+fps without the auto-resolution stuff. That's 1080p, Very High, with triple buffering. I've yet to try Ultra.

Game is great, still trying to do stealth instead of stabby stabby. Managed to get "The Lovers" achievement without knowing what happened. I domino'd a person, went to choke them out, turned slightly, other elite guard shot the first one. Done.

Thank fuck for that, my 4GB GTX 970 is just about enough, I'm teething toward upgrading my Alienware to the new GeForce 1060, what do you think?

When I looked at this, the conclusion at the moment is the 1060 is only about 10% faster than the 970 so not really worth it.

This may change as new software makes better use of the new capabilities but in that time the price will probably have dropped too.

Yeah, it's not worth it at the moment. The 970 retailed for about the same as the 1060 when it came out but it's diminishing returns to upgrade just 1 model. If you're going to upgrade then go the whole hog and get a 1080 or a titan or something.

Cheer, not enough to warrant upgrade, Dishonored 2 is the first games I have play where I have to lower the setting to get it to run smoothly.

Game of the year edition is only 25 quid at tesco.

If you want to play the latest AAA games at full settings on a high resolution then get used to paying £500 for a new GPU every 2 years.

I get that, my way of doing it is buying a new GPU when a games I want have been released (like RDR2).

The 970 work perfectly well for me at the moment, one they fix the bug in Dishonored 2 (can't enter full screen at a lower resolution), it will be much better

@edscoble that's the 1.2 beta patch I was talking about.

Just went live as a real patch. One thing I noticed is idTech 5 engine (aka Void) still CPU heavy as well however with the patch the process no longer changes priority. Was dropping to low before.

A 970 should run it on middle settings, definitely not worth 970->1060. Either go 1070/1080 or wait for next iteration

If you want to play BF1 that is. Others have been flawless but there's some cuntery in that game/driver combo that makes me very sad.
