  • Alone in the Dark! I really want to play AitD again (the perfect original version), I wonder if Xbox Arcade have them...

  • shut up shut up SHUT UP

    I will not! 360 = 531

  • speaking of games, has anyone been playing Farmville from Facebook?

  • jimbo, wtf, who cares what system you play on? its the VIDEO GAMES THREAD! not the I've got a 360 and your PS3 is shit or the PS3 rules and your 360 is a floating turd, let the fanboy bullshit die. Otherwise this thread just becomes another pissing contest about systems when it should be about the games you love playing.

ps. If you're just taking the piss, stop that as well I don't need to be involved in more threads where people find being trolls and stirring more enjoyable than actually saying something meaningful.

  • Dark Void looks pretty good, Corny. I never really got into the 3rd person thing, but being slightly obsessed with black ops and sneaking around dressed in black with a silenced rifle and night vision goggles, I should probably look into one of the Tom Clancy games.

  • speaking of games, has anyone been playing Farmville from Facebook?

I knew this would come up.
More than half the people on my friends list are currently play it.
Supposed to be super addictive, so im keeping away.

    TF2 anybodY?

  • I'm all about the third person shooters crispin, splinter cell, uncharted, metal gear, etc etc etal.
First person shooters never really done it for me, think maybe its because I never got into the whole doom, unreal tournament, series of games.
but yes definitely look into splinter cell, think the latest one splinter cell conviction, should push the envelope in terms of gameplay, and there's lots and lots of sneaking and sniping throughout..

    I'll post this again since you didn't get the message;

  • it is stupidly addictive (not super, just stupidly), my missus was playing it, I took a gander and didn't think much of it, all you're doing is being a farmer and have to wait for a certain number of hours, even days for crops to grow.

bit like sim city for farming, too late for me since I'm already pretty hooked in playing it.

  • to appease Cornelius and others I will refrain from console bashing (I was taking the piss and think i said so earlier in the thread) but I do think the merits of various consoles is relevant but just not discussed in the silly way i was doing!

for a bit of fun check this little online game out. Highly addictive and dead simple....like all good computer games

First person shooters doesn't do it for me as well, however there are exception such as Half Life 2 which everyone should play, I cannot emphasise how awesome this games is, and by awesome, I mean awesome as in a hundred billion hot dog awesome.

Metal gear solid was a fantastic games, I remember I preorder it for the Playstation decades ago, and was amazed by the storyline, I remember the story take an unexpected turn of events, in which I thought I've buggered something up.

to be honest, the part I like about MGS was snapping the neck, in which the controller emitted a little vibration when the neck of the soldier crack.

Metal Gear Solid the original was such an immense storyline and so involving and really set the benchmark for other computer games. the games since have had worse storylines imho but still good. I haven't been that impressed with splinter cell though, it just didn't click as much as I would have liked, I think I found the sneaking about a bit too difficult at times and I would just get a bit bored.

for proper sneaking in 3rd person I would recommend the Tenchu games

  • tenchu is excellent, except if memory serves the latest one isn't on the ps3, which is a bit of a ball ache.
splinter cell is an easier in than metal gear which has so much fucking history and back story, loved loved loved sons of liberty on the ps2, but never finished it, and only just got the latest one, and I'm slightly wary of the longer than usual (blatant understatment) cut scenes..

  • if you want proper sneaking, try play videogames without the missus noticing.

yeah i think the latest tenchu is on the 360 (but lets not talk about that) tbh the last few tenchu games weren't as well thought out as the 1st which just blew my mind. I still have bad memories of those firebreathing little demon zombies which wobbled around randomly!

agree about the cut scenes on the newest metal gear...after a while you just walk out the room and miss the whole storyline.

  • Yeah I think I'll hold on for the next Splinter Cell installment, if I'm going to start somewhere I may as well start with the latest.

Bit of a mention is needed for a pair of classic Dreamcast games, Power Stone 1 & 2. Dreamcasts and the decent games are actually rising in price at the moment

  • one of the things i used to really enjoy was playing Worms and Worms armageddon on the PC. you could have such fantastic battles with your mates with serious vendettas and last ditch ninja rope missions across the screen. Unfortunately the game never converted to 3D particularly well. It also seems to suit a keyboard better than a game controller.

  • Remember Lemmings 3D? Unadulterated shite.

  • worms is available on the iphone. I forced my girlfriend to get it, me not having one and all...

  • I just gave my girlfriend worms.

  • Just set up a Lfgss group on steam - http://steamcommunity.com/groups/londonfgss Join!

  • I'm not a fan of 3rd person or comic book/film licenses, but everyone says AA is awesome. Am I missing out? I don't want to be like those people who haven't played Bioshock (the poor, wretched souls)

Decided to download the trial games on the Xbox after reading this topic, turn out to be more interesting than i expected, thought it's a silly games from looking at the case with a big fat cartoony robot on the cover.

alternative past, my favourite kind of story, demo seemed great, downloading full games as we speak.

  • the greatest video game ever written:
    SYSTEM SHOCK 2.
    utterly unfuckwithable and totally terrifying.

bioshock was an OK successor to it. Wished they hadn't done away with inventory. If you liked HL2 for the story telling aspect of the game they you should love bioshock as the makers seemed to have put some effort into actually generating a plot and story unlike balls like the halo series.

    also:
    new campaign out for L4D.
    pretty good.

    also 2:
i have joined the steam group. lets shoot some zombies. and maybe i can finally complete an original campaign in advanced

  • breath

    BioShock is quite simply stunning

    breath

    ;)

  • I'll never look at golf clubs in the same way again!
